Hi all... we are doing everything we can but the contact we need to speak to is not in until Monday morning and any attempts we make to resolve it with technical staff results in a standard response. Understand people are not happy, neither are we.... I can't sleep or even think straight worrying about this. Monday morning when my contact gets into the office he will be looking at the situation for me and I should also hopefully speak to him. I will keep you all posted once this happens.
I think this will lose lots of customers...I think I won't be with you guys now...I have lost tons of money and lots of advertising time. Including my sites loading slow, There are many other ways like said on the last page to fix this, Buy a temporary server and setup AdToll there until your host finally fixes itself....This is almost like having Google down or something, This much downtime is unthinkable! Also, unless you guys are thinking of someway to replace this lost time & money, I am not sure what to think right now =/ Regards, Carsen K.
Carsen we understand that and Advertisers will be compensated, we do not expect Advertiser's to pay good money to not have their ads being served. We understand there are ways to solve (such as a temp server) this but its not possible, you will learn why once we release a complete statement once this has been resolved. If it was as simple as renting a new server and setting it up we would do it. There's a very good reason why we can not do this which you will learn why soon. Carson, and everyone on here.... nothing is more important to us than our customers and we understand the severity of this issue for you and for us. With regards to your sites loading slow, put the ads in IFRAMES, that will solve that problem. Again my sincerest apologies... we are doing all we can (believe me) and nothing is more important to us than you and our reputation which we understand has been affected, unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control. The best we can do at this point in time is keep you all informed of progress from this thread. We believe communication is vital in this situation as we do not want to keep our customers in the dark.
OK everyone so far it hasn't turned out all that well and we are now considering moving our hosting completely as our host is simply not budging and is killing us. So... I need recommendations from anyone for an EXCELLENT dedicated server host in the US. Please any recommendations?
Host gator, you simply have 24 hour support with live chat, phone, and email. There servers are amazing, full managed (or you can get unmanaged and save 50 dollars per month or so) If you want you can sign up under my referral (Will be appreciated for showing you this) I have never had a downtime with hostgator in a year or so. Thanks Tyler
I have fantastic news.... our hosting company has had a change of heart and they are now arranging for our servers to be put back online. With any luck AdToll should be up and running within the hour. Once up I will perform some system checks and proceed from there. We will also be releasing an official statement of the downtime on our blog, once done I will let you all know so you can read it. Fingers crossed its all up within the hour.
"I have fantastic news.... our hosting company has had a change of heart and they are now arranging for our servers to be put back online." What exactly does that mean? They weren't going to put you back online? You seriously need to reconsider your business plan if you're running your whole operation off a single dedicated server. You need to have up to the minute backups on running machines in other datacenters, just ready to be switched over when something like this happens. Anything else is just plain irresponsible.
We do have multiple dedicated machines, the problem is they are all under the same hosting account! This experience has been a big lesson and we will be reviewing our disaster recovery thats for sure. I agree completely with you there Taylor.
ADTOLL IS BACK ONLINE Thanks to everyone for your feedback and patience. We are just taking the time to check the system and make sure everything is functioning and working. We will be releasing an official statement today about the downtime including information of the compensation plan we will be providing. Again thanks for your patience.
nice glad to see adtoll back im a proud member of adtoll.com i think adtoll will get stronger from this as webmasters we all know hosting companies seems like they try to make problems for us everyone should give adtoll a try today!!
That is great, It is backup ....Running a bit slow for me..Like 2minutes to load a page, Not sure. But I am just glad it is backup and running! . Regards, Carsen K.
Yes we have our hosting company investigating the lag issue now... they should be able to get it sorted.
Glad to see your back up and running . Hope you find a decent host to transfer too, to ensure you dont encounter this issue again.
Well a lesson learnt is that you just can't trust anyone. You can only trust yourself, which means putting in plance the right disaster recovery which includes backup and restore procedures. When you have to rely on a 3rd party completely you put your business at a huge risk.
