The stats are way off for me. I receive at least 350 impressions per day on my site and your stats show about that per week for one of my zones. That makes me wonder if the clicks are off too. About 80% of my traffic comes from the countries you allow. I have two different ad sizes that show on every page but their impressions are different. The one near the bottom of the page has more impressions. Also I asked a question via your contact form about a week and a half ago and never heard back. I like your site but it seems to not be working for me.
Is there any option to allow publishers to show their own default ads in the pipeline? I'm waiting for this option before I add some of my high traffic sites.
Thats add we reply to every enquiry so I would assume that perhaps when we emailed you back it was trapped by a filter of some sort. We do reply to all enquiries within 24 hours. If you can contact us with your questions we can investigate and provide answers, there's ALWAYS a good reason things happen and we do find its just a process of education. With regards to what your rate card shows for ad views.... remember thats a weekly average of what an advertiser can expect from their ad in a week. Its not the total views, its an indication of what they can expect if they make a booking.
This is on our list of TO DOs! I guess while we are here i understand you want to be able to set your own default ads, which is a nice feature but is there anything in particular you want it to do? Like do you want to be able to set your own destination URLs?
Wow. Thanks for clearing up the stats issue. I checked my spam filter and found a reply to my email. Thanks I guess Gmail thought it was spam because it had the word 'ad' in the email address. Thanks. I the reason for default ads is to promote your other sites or affiliate links when no ads are available. It would help to be able to choose the banner url too. I think it would be very helpful for publishers if when creating a new ad zone when they select the ad dimensions it shows text next to the select field saying how many ads are available for that ad size and not including ones that are in categories that are restricted. Also it would be nice if in the publishers account stats it showed the total ad views for that day and then in the rate card it showed the estimated average views the advertiser will get per week.
Your account area does show the total ad views for the day on your site(s). So you think it would be useful to show the number of non-targeted network ads available so the publisher knows there are ads available... not a bad idea but we don't want to turn publishers off using ad groups if there are not many available. The plan was once we grow and our advertiser base grows to provide more of that kind of information.
The review on Publisher Spot by Tyler Cruz has now been completed... for those interested check it out at http://www.publisherspot.com/reviews/adtoll
I found that that one of your replies was marked by my security software as spam, so I whitelisted Adtoll, then no problems
For everyones information the August payments have just been made so if you were owed anything you have now been paid. We usually pay these on the 15th of every month but decided on an early payment this month. Well done to all publishers that received a payment!
I Have a small suggestion You should count clicks for all countries but pay for only the countries u allow so ppl who want to advertise know proper stats
Yes we only count clicks from a range of countries for network ads. If we counted clicks for all countries as you suggest that itself opens up a range of problems in itself. For example we would have publishers whinging on every forum that they got 400 clicks and only made 10c etc... not the impression we want our publishers giving out.
well than this affects the advertisers of other countries say for eg if my site is indian and when someone visits rate cards he doesnt see any indian clicks or clicks are nil even when many indian clicks are recieved hope u got wat i meant
Yes I do understand but unfortunately it's impossible to keep everyone happy. We aim for a particular market where the traffic is the most reliable and of the highest quality. If you sell ads on your site then you will be able to see clicks from any country which will filter through to your stats. Understand your concern but it is like this for good reason.
I wouldn't say that.... sell ads on your site and you have no problem! The best way to do that is start CHEAP.... REAL CHEAP... sell ads for 20c a week if you have to just to bring on board advertisers. Once you build an advertiser base then you can build momentum.
Today we announced our latest feature which is now under development and is planned to be trialled very soon. It's quite big... for more information check out our blog entry about it at http://blog.adtoll.com/2007/08/23/publishers-take-control-of-your-ad-inventory-using-default-ads/
The new feature sounds good By the way, can I make a comment regarding the Alexa rank which is shown to potential advertisers on the Rate Cards and other parts of the AdToll site. When I first joined AdToll just over a month ago I noticed the Alexa rank for my computer tips site was worse than I would've expected, at around 1,138,274. Alexa.com also showed 36% (the majority) of my traffic as coming from Nepal, which I knew was totally wrong as Google Analytics shows my visitors are mainly from the US and UK. Just over a month later my Alexa Rank has jumped up from 1,138,274 to 654,716, and Alexa's site now recognizes the majority of my traffic comes from US and UK. Not because of any changes to my site's traffic, but because after reading various forum posts about how inaccurate the Alexa Rank is, I followed a suggestion to place a Rank Widget from Alexa.com on my web site pages, and also to install the Alexa Toolbar in my browser (I actually used the SearchStatus plugin for Firefox which has the same effect). As the Alexa rank seems to work by monitoring web sites visited by only those people who have the Alexa toolbar installed (and I think also by recording general visitors to sites that have the Alexa widget on each page), making these changes does seem to make a huge difference to your rank. I know the Alexa rank is commonly used on many sites not just AdToll as a way of showing advertisers how a site is doing, so if any web site owner is concerned about a strangely poor Alexa rank putting potential advertisers off, I really recommend placing the widget on your site and installing the toolbar or plugin. Hope this helps some people
.20 per week? That is really low. I make that in a few minutes. Why would anyone want to run something for .20 per week?
The Alexa Rank is a merely a tool... we also provide advertisers with other stats on the Rate Cards to help them make advertising decisions. Agree all webmasters should use the Alexa toolbar....
