    PPC means pay per click.
    In most cases there is an auction everybody bids for a position and pays on per click basis, hence pay per click.
    Adwords is simply a PPC platform. There are many others.

    PPC = Paid Per Click.

    As for your bidding, you will have to research that based on your keywords and niche. Each keyword has different bids.
