    Bring traffic to your site by posting good contents, submit to directories, get backlinks...
    Once there is traffic, then do the optimization like placing the ads at suitable place and blending it with contents
    You can see cents/ dollars trickling down into your adsense account but that will take some time. Till such time, keep working :)
