Adsense + WYSIWYG - help please

    Hi All,
I'm a noobie to the forums, and a new adsense member. Currently I have built my site using Rapid Weaver (www.realmacsoftware.com) for Mac. Adsense kind of messes up in the program when I post it in the main pages rather than the side bar. The only way I can seem to get ads to work is by deleting the hard returns in the code. Is this allowed? Even when I do this, the ads default to "sky scraper" mode rather than "leaderboard" the way I want.

I have adsense ads in my side bar that is in skyscraper mode - would this be a possible reason why my site isn't working properly?

    anyhelp would be great

    thank you so much

Do you mean they aren't showing up correctly in your WYSIWYG software? Or they do not show up correctly after you upload and view them in your browser? Many software programs such as dreamweaver have issues with their WYSIWYG interface but the pages show fine after upload or a preview in browser.

What I mean is, when I upload it - the ads do not appear properly

ie. I select code for a square and when I upload a vertical skyscraper shows up and the colors are all different

Check your CSS script, you got something funky going on. Can you provide an url?

I would suggest using TextWrangler to add them in to the source code (TextWrangler is excellent and free, from the people who did BBEdit) - AND writing to the guy who codes your software. You may want to think about using RapidWeaver to quickly build a site and then maintaining it with nVu, which is also free but won't mess up your code (as much). When it comes right down to it, investing in Dreamweaver/GoLive is a good idea at some point...though you may be very happy with nVu. (Or Amaya which you can also run on your Mac.)

I looked at your site and noticed that both banner and skyscraper ads now appear, so it seems you have solved the problem.

With regard to your question about deleting hard returns in your code, if you notice <BR> tags appear when you upload AdSense on your site, you should delete these from your HTML source. Sometimes WYSIWYG editors automatically insert these tags into your AdSense ad code, leading to errors on the page.

hey henry, thank you for you quick responses - i am still having the same problem

    http://www.lonelycanuck.com/page48/page44/page44.html

on that page i copied and pasted 2 adsense ad codes (1 near the top right) and 1 at the bottom of the page. (I believe the TOS allows for 3 max/page ?) Only the ads on the side bar seem to show up. The ad on the top right are supposed to be normal adsense ads (250x250 square) and the ads near the bottom of the page are link units.

i've emptied the cache on this computer and checked again - nothing. I tried checking from all the other computers in my house - and they still dont appear.

any idea? im pretty much lost. i wrote to google and they sent me a standard "copy and paste directly" which is what i did

the only think i did was align the code to the right and to the center

Many times if their are not enough ads, or if the bot cannot quite figure out what your site is about, only 1 box will get filled. Sorry to say, the only thing I can recommend right now is to wait up to two weeks for those ads to show up. BTW its henny not henry :D
