Google, Yahoo make the deal: AdSense on Yahoo Search Under the deal, as Google's announcement today describes it, Yahoo will become a carrier of AdSense-driven contextual ads not only within its own search pages, but also optionally for other services that it hosts. But Yahoo will continue to provide the search functionality -- it is not sublicensing Google's search to substitute for its own, or making any kind of a deal that passes control of Yahoo Search over to Google. Source. Is this a sign that Adsense is becoming better? Peace,
Might help if Yahoo took on publishers for their ad system, applied twice ages ago and never heard anything from them! David Law
How, on Earth, could it be good for adsense publishers? If anything, that is very very BAD NEWS. This means Google will be able to publish their ads on Yahoo, too, meaning that there will be less competition for ads served on small websites, which, in turn, means that pay per click prices will fall down sharply. In short, Yahoo will be publishing the good ads that small publishers would otherwise publish! Wake up everyone! It is amazing people here interpret everything from the other way around!
Urm...yeah, they make some hardware, but I'd have to say they're probably most well known for their software...that thing called "Windows".
I was about to say that. Totally agree with you. Now with Yahoo in Adsense camp, it means our hopes for YPN is more or less dashed. There is only one lone competitor which is MSN but it is a long way off from Google. Lesser competition also mean that Adsense now have more choices to pick and choose which means much less powers for publishers. We can only hope that the new start ups like Widgetbucks expands faster and grab more market share, something which I feel will be tough. Even Microsoft has problems going after Google, now with Google and Yahoo alliance, they are almost unbeatable.
This dude is right, this, if anything is terrible news. Damnit, this is why I wanted microsoft+yahoo to work out some deal to pressure google. eCPC will be shit, google controls even MORE of the market. No competition = no fair play. F**K!
Any strange thing that you have discovered in this alliance? Do share with us, deeply appreciated For me just feeling the pressure, don't really like to see such a monopoly of online ads. Granted that Adsense does have the best platform but I would still like to see a few players at least a obligopoly rather than a monopoly.
Than where will yahoo publishers and adds users will go , i think they will sell empty area only or may be they are planning to mix their adsense network with each others .
This might have nothing to do with the yahoo merge, but I've noticed my CTR dropped to the lowest this year. It might be just a coincidence, still, has anyone noticed anything similar?
