I have a few websites which have ads from adsense and also a few youtube channel but apart from seeing how much money has been made, I don't understand the adsense website. I want to be able to see which websites bring in the most money or where the money comes from but how do I customise adsense so I can see whether the money is coming from a website or a video?
What are channels? Channels enable you to view detailed reporting about the performance of specific pages and ad units. By assigning a channel to a combination of pages or ad units, you could track the performance of a leaderboard versus a banner, or compare your motorcycle pages to your automobile pages. You can even create a channel to track each of your separate domains, so you can see where your clicks are coming from. While channels can be used to track performance and revenue, they won't have any effect on your earnings or ad targeting. There are two types of channels from which to choose: URL channels, and custom channels. more info: http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=9868
See url channels in adsense help. Now you don't need to create them anymore, they show automatically, that's good. Also you can link adsense and analytics acounts for more precise data.
If I go to my ads - url channels, I see my blogs listed, but not youtube. I have read about making custom channels but confused. If I go to custom channels, I don't see an option to enter blog links or youtube.
The best way to do it is create separate adunits with names which has prefixes of your sites. Say for example if you have site A and Site B the use say A_small_banner and B_small_banner for both sites. This is true even for youtube ads. This will give you an insight of each independent ads. But if you want only earning par sites, under 'View Report' on left hand navigation, you can see sites which you can use. But I think youtube stats are not shown in that! ( Not sure though)
