    Hi,
It seems there is a huge difference between the statistics provided by awstats and google adsense. Can someone explain.

    AWstats:
    Summary
    Reported period Month Nov 2008
    First visit 01 Nov 2008 - 00:09
    Last visit 30 Nov 2008 - 23:31
Unique visitors Number of visits Pages Hits Bandwidth
    Traffic viewed * 1938
    5037
    (2.59 visits/visitor) 92610
    (18.38 Pages/Visit) 690201
    (137.02 Hits/Visit) 6.09 GB
    (1267.06 KB/Visit)
    Traffic not viewed *
    18320 23428 378.24 MB
    * Not viewed traffic includes traffic generated by robots, worms, or replies with special HTTP status codes.

    ADSENSE
    Totals 17,018 58 $6.01

Adsense isn't based on the amount of visitors, it's based on the amount of quality page impressions you get. Don't rely on Adsense for traffic stats, look at the Awstats for traffic and Adsense for earnings ;)

Basically the quality of your visitor. One unique visitor can mean a few page impressions if they browse your site, but if it's not good traffic (bots etc) then they wont count as a page impression.

Is Google Analytics the same way? Much less visits showing on GA than awstats.

Awstats might also be showing robots, spambots, etc. that Google is smart enough to filter. Keep in mind that your raw stats/logs are going to be MUCH different than the filtered stuff you get from Google.
