They've both got their place, but you do need to be careful where you put them as Adsense can say make 20p a click but you might just have lost £20 in affiliate sales. We use both of them around the place although not Adsense as much as we did by quite a long way.

There are many ways to earn online. There is no one 'correct' way in this business.

What may work for one, may not work for the other.

Affiliate marketing is my favorite. I follow that model because it works for me. To be successful in Affiliate marketing, you have to build a relationship with your visitors and I like building relationships.

Does this take more work? Yes! But which business does not take work?

I do favorites them both but if I have to choose only one, affiliate is the way to go. I would say each of them has both pros and cons depends on your marketing skill and seo type you would applied over them.

Here is reasons why I chose affiliate over adsense

    1. You cannot predict Adsense income - Most of income per click you would get has nothing to do with the "stable" income if you might think. I have generate revenues from both side and Adsense never that reliable nor predictable neither.
    2. Adsense is easier to earn and a lot easier to be banned - I never had a banning issue but many ones have had, including my friends. You will not get a banning or all reversal as long as your marketing is not shady but someone might bomb clicks on your ads just to get you banned forever. This is still happens every single day even Google has a much better protection already.

The best is first build a list of subscribers...so then you can contact them to make money with affiliate sales and google adsense...so drive your traffic first to an optin box...

I would always prefer affiliate marketing over adsense. Though it involves lot of hard work... it pay equally well too. And it is more stable and the revenue can be directly controlled with our efforts! :)

Adsense IS affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is simply a joint venture with another party for the purpose of shring a resource in exchange for consideration, in this case the resource is your web traffic, and the consideration is the revenue from Adsense ads.

I feel these are not oppostie things, they are the same things.

Adsense is ONE KIND of affiliation. If you sell advertising to someone on your site, you are their partner or affiliate. Its very simple really. Now, the question here is really whether or not Adsense stacks up well against other forms of affiliate marketing. The short answer is NO.

I operate about 200 sites, and of them 25 were on Adsense. Of those 25, only 5 are left. Why? Because Adsense, though targeted, has the worst ROI of any other affiliate priograms with maybe one exception which is Amazon in my experience. On sites where Adsense was generating $300 to $450 each month I can easily produce $1000 each month with ClickBank RSS feeds alone (rss comes from ProfitMart but are available in a number of places)

Adsense is DESIGNED to drop what the publisher is paid for a click over time because to Google a visitor that is on your site for the 10th time is not worth as much as a first time visitor, so Adsense HATES repeat ad views, and as such, the clicks go down in price very quickly. I could go on about stats forever, but we just dont have the room here :)
