I am debating using AS tracker scripts for several reasons. I dont know if it would be worth it as: a) Google doesnt seem to listen to people's pleadings whose accounts have been cancelled, and, b) anyone purposely trying to sabotage your account would be acsessing your site via high anon proxy. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.
I have never seen a scheme that didnt... post yours and ill tell you what I think if you want my opinion
At least most tracking scripts seem to be in line with the Terms and Conditions, if they don't change the AdSense code or the way ads are processed. See quotes from AdSenseAdvisor's posts (that is to say, from Google): http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=227675#post227675
I don't see the point of them, they tell you who clicked what ads, but so what? what are you going to do with this info? I think time is best spent improving the content and design and getting more people to visit your site.
They would produce another set of statistics you can look at. Are people who click on ads coming back to your site and using it as a base to find information ? - that's one possible use for them. Are people coming in to a specific page, visiting no others, and exiting via an ad ? At the end of the day, yes the more traffic the better but also the more information you can generate on how people use your site, then the more you can optimize the site for your users.
you can see what ads your visitors clicking, and perhaps you would know how much you earn from a click of certain ads. if you found a valueable click, then you can concentrate on improving the page to give it more exposure and invite more visitors to view the page.
I see how important to track adsense clicks. Do you guys have any recommendation scripts? free or paid scripts.
The tracking code we use for our company sites will track adsense clicks but we don't use adsens on these sites. I would love to figure out how they do it and utilize it on my own site to find out what's being clicke on to help figure out what are the higher paying k/w's.
cisarshelter: it is usually a server-side script which is added to the code of your page right after the Google code. Most of the scripts I have seen are PHP scripts which are added after the G code. I think that using them might be useful if the publisher had more control of the ads appearing. For eg., if we could filter ads based upon what they paid.
I am using the AdSense Tracking scripts. I've been using it for almost 1 yr now. They work well. One of the best feature is the ability to see what IPs are clicking. If I feel that somebody is clicking my ads too many times, I can block that IP.
