Hello, I just discovered this forum and i am very impressed. I have a question for you guys. Anyone has tried Adsense tracker scripts? They seem to have some nice stats , better then google give us but i am not sure how they are able to track the clicks on the ads and if that is allowed. I just want to be sure that they are not doing anything against google policy. Do they interfere with the goolge adsense code or not? Thank you, Andrei
Most of them work by hooking into javascript events so they dont need to modify the adsense code. This mean they are within the TOS. There is a thread on WMW about it and also some threads on this forum (do a search). Ross
Are there any free ones out there? I wrote one a while ago that I was thinking of releasing as open source. Would anyone even care?
I'm interested, in particular if it would track click made from mozilla and opera. Tha one I'm using at the moment is tracking ony Explorer clicks.
I know that asrep (asrep.com) has an evaluation version although I find it doesn't give many stats. I would care if someone released an open source one, that would be great. aenigma, asrep has these features Tracking Features It tracks the impressions of the page, AdSense ad units, and AdSense search boxes. It tracks the clicks to the AdSense ad units on the page. It tracks the clicks to the AdSense ad links on the page. It tracks the searches done via the AdSense Search Boxes. asRep supports and tracks up to 3 (three) ad units, 1 (one) ad link unit, and 2 (two) search boxes per page with a single tracking code on the page. Specialized click detection algorithms for MSIE, Gecko DOM (FireFox, Mozilla & Netscape) and other browsers. It now employs two click detection algorithms: Unverified and Verified clicks. An unverified click represents the selection of the ad unit (for right mouse button clicks) and a verified click means that the browser opened a new document after the unverified click. It detects if an ad unit is displaying AdSense ads (including Public Service Ads, PSA) or an alternate (default) ad of yours. It detects if a search box search is done on the Web or on the Site. With each impression, click or search record, asRep captures and stores the following info as well: The exact date-time of the impression and the click The URL of the page The URL of the referring page The channel of each ad unit The visual AdSense variables (such as colors and format) of each ad unit The IP of the visitor The URL of the AdSense ad the visitor clicked to The topic of the ad link the visitor clicked to The search terms the visitor searched for 3 click and search reporting methods that you can choose: Reporting via an invisible image Reporting via a hidden window Reporting via a cookie It is 100% compatible with Google AdSense Terms of Service. Absolutely no interference with AdSense ad units. Makes no changes to the codes of AdSense ad units. asRep watches the visitor activity on your page in passive mode.
