    Hi all,

I'm in the process of setting up a nice new site and before i start finishing off the final templates and adsense placement i just wanted to check a few things.

I remember a while ago reading that your not allowed to put adsense on pages where users either sign up/in or register on my site.
Someone else also said that its against the TOS to put adsense on a page that includes a search option (hope not cause that'll f~#k me up).

    Are both of these correct?
Are there any other hidden dangers i dont know about?

    Thanks

Well i didn't think that having search on a page with a search box would be against the TOS, but this other guy said it was.........might have been having me on though.

Is the part with having adsense on a sign in or register page against the TOS?

    Thanks

From the Adsence Help Center FAQ page:

    *****************************
Can I display AdSense for search and Google ads on the same web page?

Yes. You can place an AdSense for search box on any page that meets our program policies, even if you're already showing Google ads on that page. Searches from the AdSense for search box will lead to a Google-hosted results page that is also monetized with Google ads, allowing you to monetize all aspects of your site.

    From The Adsense TOS:

    *********************************
Prohibited Uses. You shall not, and shall not authorize or encourage any third party to:

    (v) display any Ad(s), Link(s), or Referral Button(s) on any error page, on any registration or "thank you" page (e.g., a page that thanks a user after he/she has registered with the applicable Web site), on any chat page, in any email, or on any Web page or any Web site that contains any pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content;
    *********************************

All the answers to permitted uses questions are covered in the Adsense TOS and FAQ pages. I suggest you review those rules to get a full understanding of what is and what is not allowed. Those pages represent your adsense "Bible".

    Cheers RatDog,

Away now making sure it doesn't show on the registration or thank you page.

Another quick question, it saying on the TOS no chat pages either. Now the site is going to have an Instant Messenger built in, the messenger will have a small interface on each page but will generate a pop up box when a converation is started.....do you think thats against the TOS?

    Thanks

Putting Adsense in a popup is a TOS violation.

no no, sorry i didn't make myself clear.

The adsense will be on the page after a user signs in, after that user signs in he will see a instant messenger box on the page (the messenger box is there all the time after they sign in).

When they type a message in and select who they want to a pop up box then appears, theres no adsense ads or any ads to that matter in the pop up box.

I was more worried about adsense being on the same page as the instant messenger start box.....but thinking about it i dont see how google can think this is really a chat page as no communication take place on that page just the pop up box (which has no ads).

    Thanks

OK, sorry, I see what you mean.

Unless you have some content on the page other than the IM box, I think it would be tough for G to feed your page relevant ads.
