Adsense can be a good #1, but make sure that you have more than 1. Make sure you have a #2, #3, #4, etc.

Yes, I would agree. However, I have heard that there is another pay per play program that also allow you to earn some money without the need to direct your readers to other website. You will just need to play an 5 sec audio clip. Not sure whether it will become popular in future.

 

its definitely one of the most easiest. I think direct ad placement generates more money though.
