Hi guys, I keep hearing the phrase smart pricing going around various sites and forums, essentially its believed that adsense is becoming aware of sites made around advertising, and thus giving a lower cost per click for those sites. Is this something that you think is happening? or just a buzz word/phrase (like "web 2.0") used to sum something up that was probably already happening due to a lack of new and relevant content on these sites? The main reason for me asking is a site I own, which I admit I purchased on the back of its adsense income, has had some drops in revenue, it was averaging between 12c-20c a click is now getting 5c? Any advice, comments, opinions appreciated! Thanks, Greg
No its not just a phrase. Google themselves have said that it exists. Smartpricing is always per account. So your other sites may actually have decreased the click value for this site. Try removing Adsense from your other site(s) and see if the CPC goes up again. Also, this question has been asked a million times.
Ok, then just another question.. say you have 2 sites, one site got very high ECPM and the other barely get sany visitors/clicks. Will site A effect site B?
well I can tell right now because ive got 15 its 9 clicks and 0.30 cents income lol. also - how long will it take if sites are removed to ECPM going back up?
Hard to say if a site without visitors will have a big effect. I think a site with lots of visitors and garbage clicks will be way worse. I don't think the amount of clicks or the CTR will have much of an impact. As I understand it, its all about conversion ratio. Since a site without any visitors doesn't get many clicks (that don't convert) either, it may have less of an impact. I was talking about two sites with about equal amount of traffic, where one can negatively impact the other (by a lot).
