Google adsense is showing zero page impressions for the first week of this month on a site with low traffic. I just looked at the raw logs in detail with an analyzer that filters any user agent that ever asked for robots.txt . This shows far fewer visitors or pages than awstats or analytics would. There are search engine referred visitors to the site with zero adsense impressions with search terms in the referral string and user agent = IE. From ips across US, europe and asia. With various user agent strings. Referrers are search engines. So appear on log info to be normal mised bag of real users. Also checked the pages and they are showing ads for me. They could *all* have java switched off so zero impressions for google is possible but seems unlikely to me. They could *all* have some sort of filter that is stopping google adsense from loading. Is that sort of filter really that common? Nothing definitive therefore but looks like I am getting traffic and google is not counting impressions. I guess the next step would be to put some javascript on my own site so I can log how many users have javascript off. Also could look at older months to see if there was a closer correlation. Two questions here: Are there other possible reasons for this hapenning? Do people here usually find that google page impression stats match stats from log analysers?
Hi, I have found that this issue is usually due to a lag time in the adsense program. I haven't narrowed down the exact lag time, but it does exist. How recently did you open your adsense account, or at least the channel you are using for your website?
I haven't got any impressions or clicks, and I am pretty sure that someone has at least seen my ad. I opened my account like two days ago though...
It might be that users have some kind of an ad blocker. However, it might be the problem of implementing the ads themselves. So... do they show to you when you log in to your site? If yes, google should count them. If they are not shown to you, there is a problem somewhere else
It may be for 2 reasons. 1) Your ad-code is pasted at sidebar or bottom of ur page, while ur stat-tracker code is placed at the top of ur site. If a user visits ur site, but quits quickly before loading the ad served by google. Then it can happen. 2) You got traffic, but google's PSA (public service ad) were shown those time. Its very usual when there are shortage of ads on ur site slot.
Thanks for the replies and sorry for long delay. So far the list of possible reasons is: 1. users have java switched off so zero impressions for google is possible but seems unlikely to me. 2. usesr have some sort of filter that is stopping google adsense from loading. Is that sort of filter really that common? 3. users are stopping the page load before it gets the google ad. 4. Google is never finding appropriate ads for any of these users [but it does show ads for me when I show the page]. I have public service switched off and it should be showing data from an alternate url from my server in this case. That a regular stats program like awstats shows hugely higher no of visitors is not so surprising since there are huge numbers of bots that look for robots.txt and then grab some other pages whilst identifying themselves with a user agent string. But I am filtering those out completely. I am also seeing hugely more users coming from serps with a referrer string. These are very likely to be real users with a standard browser. Counting only those users. Averaged over a longer period, google # of impressions is under 5% of logged page views for visitors who are SERP-referred. I simply find that very low. This is not an issue of time lag - I am looking at data for a few days from weeks ago. Also I am seeing ads fine when I view pages. Still nothing definitive. I could do some more analysis of logs on other sites and compare but so far, looks like I am getting traffic and google is not counting impressions. Summary questions: Google impressions is under 5% of logged visitors who appear to be SERP-referred. A. Is that not too low? B. Do others see the same? C. What % of page impressions shown by log analysis do you usually see as google impressions for adsense?
