I am starting a cell phone review website. The site is located at http://www.cellphone-reviews.org/ On the main page all adsense ads are displaying notebook computers, while the theme of the site is cell phones. Is there something that I can change on my site so that adsense sees the correct theme?
You need to use adsense targeting, All the info is here; https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=23168&topic=371
Went to your site. The ads are not too bad, quite relevant, although you might beg to differ. Some possibilities: 1 - is this a new website? then it'll take time to display the correct ads, especially on the index.html page 2- adSense tends to have problem with index.htm page but maybe they have improved a little bit. I had Public Service Ads for almost 1 month in one of my website. Quick fix? Do a redirecting, that's what I did for a while ie: when people type in www.cellphone-reviews.org, just put a redirect to www.cellphone-reviews.org/home.htm Just try it out.
greenway - AWESOME resource - no doubt others beyond the thread author will find VERY useful; thanks for sharing. softstor - I have to agree somewhat with my44 on the issue of the ad relevancy; the laptops are too far off topic, and they may provide a nice "diversity" that might spawn a CTR that you would not enjoy otherwise. Expanding your meta description, alt tags and using the info taht greenway gave would help too IMO.
Section targeting works really well for targeting ads. Let me add Use the ignore directive on all the non-content, ads, menu, etc Use enhance directive on key phrases that you think Google could best use for finding relevant ads. Often this means titles.
I assume it's okay to use section targetting on multiple chunks within a page? i.e., <!-- google_ad_section_start --> Keyword content here Keyword content here <!-- google_ad_section_end --> <p> Non-keyword content here Non-keyword content here </p> <!-- google_ad_section_start --> 2nd Keyword content here 2nd Keyword content here <!-- google_ad_section_end --> Is this okay? -datad.
