adsense section targeting

im wondering if i should use section targeting on my web pages. right now i get pretty much the same adds on all my different pages with in my site on the same general topic. i believe this to be because it sees a repeat of keywords from the menu in each sites html code since the menu is on every page. if i do section targeting it will only target the content witch in turn would place more relevant ads for the content on the page? is this a good idea?

Sounds like a good idea to me! Are you getting many clicks on the ads now? Are the ads high-priced keywords?

well latley one of my sites ctr has dropped about %10 from where it was. i think it may be from not alot of advertisers with good ads targeting it right now so im trying to think of ways to expand the ads that show up. maybe i will do a test and find out.

I have been having a similar problem so I removed two ad units on the target page. Only have 1 now. And I used the section targeting code. Been a few days now. No significant increase in CTR or earnings as yet.

You can try it. It takes forever to see if it's working or not. And Adsense still may not display ads based on the section targeting. it's kind of misleading the way they represent it and the way it does or doesn't work.

I had this happen to me before. I think it was because my keywords for all pages were the same.
