    AdSense Search PPC

Does anyone here have any experience with the Google AdSense Search program?

I've just read over it again and the only reason not to use it yet is that it seems like you can not set it up to search more than just one site. I want it to search all our shops.

    Might try it out though.

Those of you who have implemented it, how does it compare usage, CTR and PPC rate wise to AdSense for Content? Have you received significant revenue from the AdSense Search application? (Not asking for numbers ofcourse.)

i would be grateful if yuo could share your experiences with the Google AdSense Search feature.

    Thanks!

You can specify up to three domains to search at once, but nothing beyond that.

Hmm that's nice, I couldn't find that anywhere. 3 is the bare minimum I need indeed.

    I'll check it out!

I have used the Search on a few of my sites, and there seems to be massive movements in CTR and CPM. Some days there are no clicks at all, then suddenly I'll get a substantial number of clicks all on one day - weird.

And sometimes, the CTR can be very, very high.

Most days though, it will contribute less than 1% of the revenue of Adsense for Content.

To me, it seems as though you don't get many users who utilise it, but when they do, you get a substantial CTR.

Please note that I do not use it as a site search, I just use it as a Google search, so that might make a difference.

I have it installed now with site search for 3 domains.

I guess that, compared to AdSense, there are a lot more variables involved hence the variations in performance.

AdSense Content is pretty targetted of course and consistent whereas the AdSense Search depends on:

    - Whether they indeed have the need to search something (no search = no ads = no clicks)
    - The search word they type in
    - The ads (and their attractiveness) that show up on their phrase

Well, it's worth a try even if it were just for adding to the overall customer experience. If yuo forget about the PPC income, it still is a good service.

I think the reason you sometimes get very high CTR is because of how Google layout the page displaying the search terms.

There is little distinction between the ads and the search results, so the user probably doesn't even realise that they are clicking on ads.

Also there's a second set of ads right at the bottom of the search results.

With a normal set of search reults, you could have 8 ads and 10 results, so 40% of the choices presented to the user are ads.

As you say, you have no real control over what words the user will type into the search box, so no way of directing your pages towards high revenue words - it's all down to luck.

That is roughly my experience, though i use it for site search.

Few clicks, very high CTR but very low CPM, extremely disappointing bottom line.

Is AdSense CPM only displayed in USD$?

While I type this, I all of a sudden think I might have signed up on the .com site. Ohooohh... (update: logging on via .co.uk still displays in USD)

Any UK AdSense publishers who can confirm it is displayed in USD only?

Adsense for search has a pretty high CTR but I get a very very low EPC. Like .0X dollars a click. But, I'm satisfied with adsense for search because I make good money due to the high CTR.

It's nice tool but it doesn't generate much revenue as adsense for content
