So can anyone explain if all adsense search engines are illegal? Is there an adsense search engine that can comply with google terms? Personally, I find the google TOS too vague on this issue. You can disagree with me but I don't see anything in the TOS that explicitly says "Adsense search engines violate adsense policies".

Why don't they just say that if they are?

The ebay seller just responded to an email enquiry I had about his search site (i wanted to know what specific policy his site violated) and he told me "The site complied to all Google policies".

    I am totally confused.

The seller is going to tell the truth?
Get real, no seller on ebay is going to tell you what is being sold is illegal, wrong, violates google's TOS.

In short, he is not using Google's search engine...he bastardized google search engine so that it leads only to adsense with his adsense code!

You can have google search engine on your site, you can also have a search engine that searches only your site.

Don't be confused, take it from all of us here, the seller is selling something that is against google TOS.

Well, apparently he's removed his adsense ads from the search results now:

He may have found the true light and decided to play honest with google!
Noticed the adsense ads and the search bar have no adsense account.
Maybe he got disabled or banned by google.
Just wonder if he can use that google logo at the bottom of the page?
    Powered by google.

See the code, no pub- shown, just adsenseads.
So any search or use of the adsense ads on that site is not producing income for him.
Search works, goes to google search.

Just he aint getting any money.

So as long as he complies with all adsense policies, an adsense search site like his is legal?

Yes, legal to create a site like that and include the search engine.
The original problem was not the site, but that he was bastardizing the google search engine so it led to adsense ads with his (or the new site owners) publisher code.

Hi, I'm the guy selling the AdSense Search engine websites on eBay. I'm quite intregued by reading the comments made on me.

First of all I didn't ammend any code or anything for the search results. I couldn't even if I wanted to as I'm not a coder, just a designer. I just copied and pasted the AdSense for Search code from my AdSense account to my site. Simple as that. The little Google logo on the side comes with the code. Anyone with a Google AdSense account will know this.

There's a difference between a normal Google search box and an "AdSense for search" search box. The normal search box shows normal Google search results while the AdSense search box shows AdSense ads above the search results.

All I did was copy and paste the Google AdSense search box code to my site and designed the site so it appears as a search engine. I didn't ammend any code. I didn't only make it appear as a search engine I also included content on the site, about 50 pages of content.

I'm quite surprised that none of you tech heads knew about the AdSense search box.

Yes I did get banned from Google AdSense. The reason Google gave me was "Invalid Clicks." Nothing to do with the search box. And no I didn't sit there and click on my own Google AdSense ads or did I get my family and friends to click for me... What happend was this. (I'm quite sure). When I listed my site for sale on eBay, I obviously used my Google AdSense pub code in the "demo" site. So what happened was someone who was not too happy that I got more sales than them, sat there and repeatedly clicked on my AdSense ads just to get me banned.

I know this because many many times on eBay someone with zero feedback ended my search engine site auctions early by buying all the quantity and not paying. Each time making a new eBay ID. A few times someone even duplicated my eBay ad and tried selling the site I sold them.... I then changed my settings so that members with a low feedback score cannot purchase from me. This helped but then out of desperation, someone repeatedly started clicking on my AdSense ads and got me banned from the AdSense program.

Unfair don't you think? I wrote to Google many times and tried explaining everything but had no luck. They won't reactivate me.

    Anyway hope that helps.

    Thanks
    Designer

I personally see nothing wrong with his site. It seems to comply with all Adsense for Search Program Policies. Seems it was shut down for other reasons, including the possibility of invalid clicks as he claims.
