I just came across this guy selling a "one of a kind AdSense search engine" on Ebay. LOL! I guess it's alot like the thread about the guy getting results for his engine from overture. Anyway, I guess Google caught wind of this guys scheme. Check out the site he was selling:

    http://www.giantbillboard.com/search/

Try a search and a message from Google comes up saying, "oh no you didn't!"

    :D

Here is the auction link if you wanna read a truckload of BS:

What's funny is the guy kinda half-ass complied with the Google TOS by adding the Google logo to the search box, but did he really think that he could manipulate the search results to come up as Adsense without Google dropping the axe on him? I'll never understand crackheads.

The page should work. Maybe you caught it a bad time. Try it again, it still works for me.

Can someone explain exactly what the site owner was doing that was in violation of Google policy. I'm not challenging anyone's assertion that he was, just would like to be certain myself of adsense policies. Are are ALL adsense search engines disallowed or was this guy doing something more specific against the TOS? Thanks. :)

Oh, he had his adsense ads on the side in his search results? Is that it?

I noticed one more guy selling a $4 product for $20,000,000. His aim was met (advertising a site) because his ebay ad received over 1000 views simply because of the selling price.

Don't know how relevant it is now, but not too long ago, if you put up a site on ebay, it got picked up by google and you got good pr and moved up in the search list.
Lots of people found that one out, and started advertising their sites, sometimes running like 500 auctions ( or more) per day.
Catching title and good keywords will get your auction seen by thousands.
Plus again, don't know if ebay forbids it now, but lots of people again put "Watch this item on your ebay so I rank higher" or words to that effect.

Oh, there are people who know ebay inside and outside...all the tricks, etc etc
That is why they are powersellers (even if selling pure junk!).

I was giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, thinking it must be his use of a mind-altering substance affecting his intelligence, and not just that the dude is a complete retard. But I guess "retard" is an option as well.

His search engine results were Adsense (modified in such a way to hide the obvious ADS BY GOOOOOOOOOGLE). In other words, he didn't provide search results with ads on the side, which I believe is perfectly legal, but the actual results were Adsense.

Okay, I see. Thanks. I built an adsense search engine once and asked a forumite (not here) if it complied and they told me I was in violation because my site didn't contain "unique" content (though I had syndicated content on it). I wasn't aware some of the content on ones adsense site had to be entirely unique. Is that true? I didn't want to argue over semantics but I didn't see the word "unique" in the policy terms the guy quoted me:

"Each Web page(s) that contains a Search Box must also contain other content related to Your Site. "

I wonder how many of those sites he sold?
And how many buyers are screaming for their money back?
And how many reported him to ebay for selling this crap?

Yep, google does not like people cheating the system!
