I have just checked out my adsense account and found the search box like you see it here:

    http://www.blogparty.net/

Do you guys use that feature as an ad? And how is it working out for you?

I use it, it doesn't get alot of action, but when it does, it pays well since the CTR is really high with the searchs.

I haven't heard of any webmaster that is earning decent money with the search box... most of them take it down after a few days

I am one of them, no luck at all with it

Yea true, but I'd leave it up for those rare occasions, it only takes one or two to pay out pretty nice :)

Most of the times is pays nothing, you only get a couple of sponsored links, the rest are normal serps, so you are just giving your visitors a huge door to leave your site without paying a cent.

Ditto previous comments that the earnings are hardly anything ... but I think it's a useful tool to put on the site to help in navigation - heck, I myself can't find/remember everything on www.komar.org sometimes, so I use it myself at times! ;-)

I use it but it is not so good. Only some cents. But if it takes no space, you can let it in additionally for your customers.

Before Googs let me back into its good graces I only used the search function. Now that I'm in the index I use it as a way to search the site. I don't depend on it to make money, just another useful too for a site with heavy content.

search feature works fine ( not excellent in terms of CTR ) when your own website is indexed in google and user search your site

i get practically nothing from clicks, but it's good searching topics in my own site, that's why i've kept the search box.

I agree. On top of that, the search results are cluttered, ugly, and spammy looking. I'll just stick with regular AdSense. As I said elsewhere at DP, my conclusion about AdSense Search is "not yet ready for prime time".

I just added an Adsense search box to my forum's search page. So far, all the searches have been related to my niche, so it just works as an extension to my regular Adsense ads.
