Adsense said it was OK, now they said it's WRONG

I just got an e-mail from adsense:
    Hello,

While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our policies. For instance, we found violations of AdSense policies on pages such as

Publishers are not permitted to encourage users to click on Google ads or bring excessive attention to ad units. For example, your site cannot contain phrases such as "click the ads," "support our sponsors," "visit these recommended links," or other similar language that could apply to the Google ads on your site. Publishers may not use arrows or other symbols to direct attention to the ads on their sites, and publishers may not label the Google ads with text other than "sponsored links" or "advertisements."

Please make any necessary changes to your web pages in the next 3 business days. We also suggest that you take the time to review our program policies (https://www.google.com/adsense/policies) to ensure that all of your other pages are in compliance.

Once you update your site, we will automatically detect the changes and ad serving will not be affected. If you choose not to make the changes to your account within the next three days, your account will remain active but you will no longer be able to display ads on the site. Please note, however, that we may disable your account if further violations are found in the future.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    The Google AdSense Team

    ----------
This is the page: (The blank areas are were the text use to be). I didn't put any text above it besides "sponsored link" which is ok!?
    ---------

Before I made my ad to that format, I e-mailed adsense asking if it was OK:

Thanks for your inquiry. Although I'm unable to comment specifically,
    from
your description, it sounds like your proposed implementation would not
    violate AdSense program policies.

If you'd like to reply to this email with your desired implementation
    of
AdSense in place, I'll be more than happy to review it.

For additional questions, we encourage you to visit the AdSense Help
    Center (http://www.google.com/adsense_help), our complete resource
    center
for all AdSense topics. Alternatively, feel free to post your question
    on
the forum just for AdSense publishers: the AdSense Help Group
    (http://groups.google.com/group/adsense-help).

    Sincerely,

    ----
    The Google AdSense Team

    -----------------------

What should I do? Should I tell adsense about this? Will all of my previous clicks be removed? Or will they not pay me once I reach $100? Thanks.

I never altered the text "ad by google" I just simply placed it on my navigation and placed the text "sponsored link" above the ad.

I don't believe you can refer to the ad at all. Doing so brings undo attention to it.

I thought we were allowed to place "sponsored link" above the ad? So should I remove it? and my text in the green lines?

It seems you did something that violates adsense terms. They would not send you the email unless you did.

Yeah... I'd like to know specifically why the ads violated in TOS; I removed all of the ads and completely redid the layout anyways... I just need to apply it to the rest of the pages.

1 question: What will happen to my funds that I've earned so far? Will they be removed soon or will they not allow a $100 withdrawal even if I've earned $$ through my new ad format?

    Thanks :)

Did you reply to this email with your suggestion or did you just take this as an A-OK and went ahead anyway? As far as I see the rep was unsure of your idea and wanted a further email with more info.

Your lucky they requested you change it and didnt ban you without warning but I would double check in the TOS on what text you can have above the ads - maybe having the word "links" was the problem?

    Link above said sponsored links...

Yeah, I e-mailed them back , apologized and asked them to review the site (because I changed the ad placement). Hopefully it's all OK now.

If they approve the changes you made, and don't ban you, you will probably get your money. I got banned once, and they reinstated me and paid me for the traffic spike that was previously under scrutiny.

It looks to me like you may have blended the ads in so well that people would click on them by accident, just because they looked like navigation.

It's a fine line, but Google is at least trying to run a respectable ad service, so if your ad placement looks deceptive at all they will most likely call you on it.

On the screenshot: I removed them (the blank area is where I placed the ads)

I've removed my ad placement and replaced it with a more basic one that's approved by Google

More proof that if you weren't trying so darn hard to trick your visitors into clicking, you wouldn't even be in this situation. Just play it up and up and on the level and you will always be fine. Try to edge toward the grey here and there, add this line now, move this image a little farther, change the car image to a girl in a bikini next to the ads, etc etc, is just asking for trouble. One day Adsense will say, "Okay, no more images next to ads!" and then BAM, you're all in deep sh*t.

I've made more money than I can buy dumb things with without resorting to any of this stuff you guys obsess with every single day, with 9 out of every 10 threads. Just build up your site, get your traffic, and you won't have to always be pushing up against the latest Adsense rule change or constantly have to ask for permission to do every little thing.

    'Nuff said.

Hi, can I know how long are you in the Adsense program? and what did you do to get their attention to review your website? I am asking this because I am waiting to get my first check. However, because of so issues, I won't be able to continue to work on it. So I have it shut down. My concern is when they are planning to send me the check they won't be able to check my site anymore and I am afraid that they will just kick me out of the program.

    Thanks!
