Adsense has always been unpredictable for me. That's why it's a good idea to have other ad networks as well.
I think in general adsense revenue just like any revenue does fluctuate and to look at it on a daily basis is a waste of time.. But i do agree that in general say over a longer time scale earnings are down a little bit but not that much.... I still think its one of the better ad networks.
This is all of it in a nut shell for me. I had decided to make AdSense very low on my priority list. When my amount per click fell about 30 to 40 percent over 6 to 8 months I said enough is enough. I went for affiliates and pulled a lot of my AdSense ads. I took my Adsense page views from about 16K a day with 250 clicks down to 7K page views and 100 clicks. The result was my amount per click went up 30 percent. I said ok whatever and there is stayed for a few months. After finding out my biggest affiliate was not crediting me for half my sales I went back to all AdSense. So here we are again page views back up, clicks back up, amount per click down about 30 percent again. I have a hard time believing it is low inventory since I have a dating site but it is very frustrating
Adsense can be a bit unpredictable sometimes. Earnings could be down for a number of reasons such as too many publishers, (shouldn't advertisers be increasing along with increasing publishers?) choice of niche, economic factors, quality of traffic, etc... Have a diverse stream of income sources such as affiliate products and especially your own product or service.
Adsense prices CAN universally fluctuate, the economy does change and they can't always provide the same amounts all the time. However, if your earnings have been okay and then dropped, you might've been smart priced if your ads are even on ONE PAGE that has low CTR.
So people say that there is no alternative to Adsense. IMO there is no difference between adbrite and adsense. Both does not pay
Oh, believe me, AdSense can pay. It varies wildly by site, but it can pay quite well. ... I find a big drop at 1/1/08 which I think is US-recession-based.
It doesn't go down for me. It just varies a bit. I suppose I'm happy with today's earnings. (a lot better than 2 days back in any case)
my earnings are up, however my ECPM for one site has dropped to less than half, but for another site its up 100%+.
