It's possible that you're being smart priced. Maybe you've also added another site to your account that doesn't perform well - at least according to Google.

In fact, we make less money, since the cost to advertisers is reduced in order to provide a strong ROI. Ultimately, this leads to higher payouts for publishers by drawing a larger pool of advertisers and rewarding publishers who create high quality sites. It's summer time, people are on vacation, students are on holidays, kids as well.... So it's quite normal that there is a huge drop, my earnings fell for aprox. 40%, but we have to survive for this month or two. In September everything will be just fine, you'll see.
My site performed badly last month and has improved slightly this month. It doesn't help as already mentioned about people being on holiday. Also there are lots of bank holidays in June and if it is sunny the last thing people think about is the internet.
Possible Synopsis: Usually if your targeting a specific type of demand that doesn't have a lot of competition, then it will happen. Why?: Because competitors can do whatever they want. If they wanted to bid on kitten calender's one day, then advertise on keywords related to dog calender's, they have the right to. That's the disadvantages for ranking on keywords with hardly no competition.
i def feel google has changed its rates since the recession... but i have started to notice new options.. like they are trying to make a commission based system in there tied to google checkout...
