Yea makes a lot of sense. If I was an advertiser I would only put my ads on the google search page. Honestly, when people are searching you know they are interested in information related to that term. When the ad is on someone's page, you don't know how exactly the person got there.

If anything I think we could see a lot of webmasters go bust in the next couple months, that or they'll sell their sites and move on.

Also advertising is down across the board, even for tv, newspaper etc. I was hearing that advertisers are spending less for the superbowl ads and that is considered some of the best advertising you can get.

If anything it tells us that we need to be more efficient at getting traffic to our sites to make up for the lost revenue. The value of website visitor traffic is going down.

I just had this thought while reading your posts guys. (And I've been reading similar ones everywhere on the net for at least one year). If Google wants their Adsense ad program to remain attractive, won't they find a way to get those good old days back when a click used to generate more than a few pennies ? Just a thought.

yeah, the one thing is probably the bad economy situation... The second thing might be that January is generally quite bad in terms of shopping. Let's see what happens in February :)

My earnings are down too, but only by about 10% compared to November 2007, my best month ever. Not too bad, I guess. I have been using Adsense since 2005. Hoping things will change for the better again soon...

This time of year is traditionally slow for Adsense anyway. I wouldn't start worrying about it until about April or May.

It looks like your conversion rate is getting crappy. Where is your traffic coming from? If it's Social Traffic, then it doesn't convert well for Adsense. Work on attracting search engine traffic. Rank higher for your keywords and bring in the right kind of traffic and you're profits will increase.

Chasing Social Traffic is a common mistake by many people. They think all traffic is the same. It's not. You want clickers to your site (search engine traffic), not Readers (Social Traffic)

Good luck and keep us posted.

    Don

Yes, it's decreasing because of the economy and also, there are smart adwords people who'll pay less to get more, if you know what i mean.

mine earn about the same even with decreased visitors, could it be the reader is clicking on cheaper ads that makes your earnings go down?

Try other options like affiliate marketing, direct offerings for ad placement, etc.

Why? Hosting services have to pay for themselves, too. Not their fault that the only reason you've decided to host a site is to play with Adsense.

For the last two days I am seeing some improvement in the click rate. My click rate and earnings are showing some improvement from the day Obama sworn in. Is their any relation. DO we see any connection. Suddenly I am seeing a positive reaction. I am happy too.
