Hi. My proxy site has just been listed on a VERY busy Chinese website. I usually get a couple of hundred hundred uniques a day, but the last couple of days I've seen over 6000 uniques and nearly a million pageviews a day. My Adsense ads are in English (I'm in the UK by the way), but I've just put some chines 'Picassa' and 'Firefox' referral ads on the front page. Is this OK? In the Referrals setup page at Google, it's possible to select the language, so I'm guessing (hoping!) that this is OK. Thanks Dave.
Yeah you are allowed to put the buttons in any language that you see fit. And in your case you have a very good reason to use the Chinese ones. Hope you get a referral or two.
Excellent .. that's just the answer I was hoping for. Although if I'm not mistaken, don't the referral payouts drop for non-english 'clickers'? Or am I thinking about something else? Then again, 10 referral clicks per day out of the 6000+ uniques wouldnt' be so bad, even at $0.50 each Thanks again. DL
You are correct - how much you get from the referrals depending on the source country of the clicks. US clicks get you the highest ($1) and it tapers down gradually. Using AdLogger, I've notice this for other countries: Australia - 50c, Malaysia - 10c. China would probably be in the vicinity of 10c too.
If you know how, you can detect when visitors come from China and display referrals in Chinese, otherwise in English. Or if you want the simple approach, randomly alternate between English and Chinese ads (and maybe some American ones too - see this thread). Cryo.
