I was once told, if you modify your adsense placement or layout types, it takes about 2 days for everything to go back to normal due to the spiders have to recrawl your site. Is this true? Does your adsense take a hit the first few days after making a change?

Um, no. Whoever told you that doesn't know what they're talking about.

don't be shy about moving your adsence around, its only way to discover what layout pays better.

You think? I thought he meant that if he moved his ads around, the ads wouldn't showup. OP, can you clarify?

No, moving your ads won't affect getting contextual ads. As long as you normally get targeted ads, you'll be fine.

My theory is that Google assigns sites to specific categories, and sends generic ads from that category to new page additions it may not have had time to crawl yet. As well, my theory is that Google assigns individual pages to categories as well until it has time to crawl, so whatever ads you were getting after Google's last crawl, you'll get the same ads even if you switched ad positions. That's my theory, anyway.

That darn Google bot is always on my site. :( As soon as I make a change he shows up uninvited within 30 min. to an hour and doesn't even bother to knock. He either brings cheap CPC ads when he comes or he takes all my ads with him when he goes, leaving blank spaces or PSA ads. I hate that bot.

Yeah, that damn bots are all around. haha

After we change ads or put ads in new page. The first time we request the page.. ads might not show up correctly, but for a few min check back the log file. Adsense bot came and we can see revelant ads.
