AdSense Question

Discussion in 'Reporting & Stats' started by konrad, Sep 9, 2006.

I just got a new site and put adsense ads on it. So far today I had 28 clicks that only made me 6 cents. I did not click my own ads or anything like that, and am surprised that the earnings are so low. Does anyone have an explenation? Thank you.

Some ads are per impression so you may be getting only those. As when they are per impression you don't get paid for clicks, this tends to happen a lot in forums.

    Thank You

I dont agree with the forum part
I have a few forums and this isint something normal
what i think is that may be there are public service ads showing up and when people click on them yo dont get paid for it but the thing i am not sure about is that do the clicks on public service ads show up on stats? if they do you are fine
6 cents may be from a click whihc was on a comperical advert

I would still suggest you send a quick e-mail and let adsense know you are worried and if there is some one trying to click the shit out of your ads to get you banned they will know you are not doing it and it makes a big difference.

send the e-mail from the same e-mail id which you used to sign up for adsense :)

Yep, it sounds like Public service ads to me. If you have just put up the ads, it may take a little while for google to match them up to your content.
Send the email, and keep an eye on your stats

I agree with smfseo, send it now and explain the situation exactly as it is.
To other people who may read this post and have new accounts: If you clicked your own ads even just to test, write to adsense and tell them that you did that, tell them to cancel all clicks until now and say that you learned now that you cannot test the ads yourself.

I don't subscribe to clicking your own ads, but I also don't agree that you should contact Google and let them know you violated their TOS (unless you went nuts on the clicking).

I'm guessing that there is a sum total of address and as the impressions go up, the value your action (accidental click or two) will not be important enough to get flagged.

Two schools of thought and which to choose is up to you.

Thank you for the replies. When I go to the site, I dont see any PSAs, maybe some still do. I guess I will see what happens in the next few days. I think I probably should add more content to my site, because right now there isn't much. Could the content ammount greatly affect the earnings per click?

content amount doesnt make much difference on earnings per click
its the type of content and keywords which make a dfference.
older sites with better link popularity make more money per click as high bid ads show up in there first as they get priority when it comes to serving ads (dont lock your horns with mine on this i know what i am talking about).

have some good orignal content and your revenue per click will rock
dont just go for high paying keywords just coz they pay more per click
the trick is stick to the theme of your site post good content and build inlinks to pages (deep link) increase the percentage of deep links as compared to links to your home page and see your revenue per click going up very soon :)
high paying keywords have more competition and hence you have to fight a lot of pages to get traffic
go for bulk first then start adding pages with high paying keywords and pass on your pr to those pages
its a slow and painful process wont happen in a day give it 3-4 months of hard work and you will see some good green rolling your way
    all the best :)
    regards

How did you got 28 clicks the very first day and too on a new site ?

These is possible as CPM ads dont pay even you click, they pay only when 1000 impressions are made..
Lets us see your site and ad placement, so that we can know your adsense optimization technique of getting so many clicks :)

Maybe your solution is as good as mine, its just that a couple of people I know did it and it turned out to be an ok solution. And I also see that people recommend this all over.

Well, the site isnt exactly new. I just bought it today. It is a proxy site, so I don't expect the earnings per click to be very high, but I thought they would be at least a few cents. The url is www.myprxy.com but the nameservers may not be updated yet for you.
