Adsense Pin

Discussion in 'Payments' started by Sirxl, Apr 27, 2005.

Google adsense has implemented a system to issue PINs for security purpose. Has anyone receive any yet ?

I've just requested for one to be sent to me. Did not realise it would be a physical letter ! Why cant they just email it ? Now I have to wait for the snail mail.. duh :(

    eg:

A new PIN has been sent to the address you provided when you created your account.

Your PIN was sent to this address:
    blah blah....

Please allow 2-3 weeks for your PIN to arrive. Should you receive the initial PIN card in the meantime, you may enter the number provided on that card.

Your most recent PIN was sent on this date:
    2005-04-27 00:32:44.27

    =========
    PIN Information page

As part of our effort to protect the accounts of AdSense publishers, we have mailed a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to the payment address entered in your account. This PIN must be entered on the PIN Information page before any payments can be issued to you.

In the meantime, your account remains active, and you may continue to show ads and accrue earnings. If you have not received your PIN within 2 weeks, you may request that it be resent.

Please enter your PIN as provided in the card sent to you by Google. Please note that if your PIN is entered incorrectly three times, ad serving and account access will be suspended.

It does sound a bit fishy.... perhaps contact Google to verify the validity of the request before you give up vital information.

It's on the login page so there is nothing suss about it.
I'm still waiting to receive mine so I guess no check this month :( .

They don't issue the pin until you have $50.00 in your account then it can take a couple of weeks after that to arrive. Even then they don't issue a check until you have accured $100.00......so for some it could be a long wait

When I first signed up for my account they did this. I had to request it a second time in order to get it.

PIN numbers are sent to you once your account balance reaches $50 .. Its simply to protect the publishers...

No, it really doesn't make sense. There are no major benefits to confirming a publisher's address that I can see. Small payoff maybe, but nothing major.

Well it takes nearly 2-4 weeks to reach your place, but if you can wait.I am sure it reaches and that you need not to request for it again and again!

Google wastes what I'm going to guess is 37 cents ( I just got told that I should be getting one from my account) to make sure that you live where you say you do? Whats the point of that?

Its no more than many other transaction fees, and 37 cents of a $100 isn't that much is it? its .37%, I guess wire-transfer or Pay-Pal is probably just as expensive. Also, the PIN is to verify your status.
