Currently, I only have text ads running exclusively on my site. I'm wondering how image ads perform for those who have them enabled on their site. Do they perform better than text ads in your experience?
It's been my experince that it depends on how well they blend into your site. In some cases an image ad just doesn't look right...
You could choose both text + image and you will get images a small percentage of the time. This can be a good way to break things up a bit.
Thanks for the answers, everyone. I guess I'll stick with the text only ads. Even if image ads performed the same or marginally better, I would probably have stuck with text ads b/c I find them less intrusive but that just makes my decision easier.
I disabled the images long ago. They look just like a normal banner, and most of the surfers today are now banner-blind
IMHO that more ads are displayed - the better. You don't need same ads rotating forever, even if they are that-better-performing text ads. My advice is: leave both options (text and images) use blend-in color scheme (it helps to prevent banner blindness coz they stand out when occur) Sometimes (on some websites), image ads are pretty irrelevant even after you filter out some campaigns individually - this is the only case I am disabling them (well, second case could be when images would destroy visual feeling of the site). On other hand, sometimes I use image-only ads also - just in a case I want cross-promote my other sites through alternative ad (URL)
