    Greetings everyone,

I'm a longtime lurker here and have always found this place a great read. I'm posting so that some of you pros can possibly help me out in increasing the effectiveness of my adsense. I've got a fairly busy site, about 6-8k uniques a month / 25M pageviews. I only run adsense, partially because I had poor luck with alternatives and mostly because I want to stay within their TOS as it does really help pay for hosting costs as my site gets busier.

Latley, my traffic is continually increasing, but my adsense revenue pales in to sites with a lot less traffic than mine. I'm a relative novice at SEO, my site is vBulletin with vBSEO and I've read a handful of FAQ's about optimizing traffic and adsense, but the more I read about guys making $10-20 a day with half my traffic, I'm really getting the impression that I'm doing something wrong.

Out of etiquitte I'll avoid linking my site with the first post I make, but it's in the screenshots if you want to take a look and see what I have going on.

Here are my webalyzer stats for the last year or so:

I have a few permissions set. As a guest, people see the following. On the main page, a single 234x60 block in the header, along with two 336x280 blocks side by side under the logo, telling people to register, like so:

That same panel is there in the forums as well, as well as a single 728x90 leaderboard under the first post. There really are ads there, but I just finished redoing the placement here and the new Adsense takes a bit to actually display the ad.

For members, I show ads in two places. One is the existing 234x60 in the header, and another 728x90 in the footer at the very bottom of the page. I average about 80-100 logged in at any time, with another 100-200 guests on top of that depending on the time of day.

All that said, I'm not sure if I can say my actual earnings, but they're slightly more than a gallon of gas per day, and with my traffic, uniques and the fact that ~200 people are on my site at any given time, I really think they should be higher. If any of you experts could offer some insight, tips, critiques or otherwise, I'd very much appreciate it. :)

    Cheers,

    - Chris

Edit: Ack, I just realized that this should be posted in the placement subforum. Apologies.

Once I tried to put an 300x250 ad before the first post content (inside the post) and optimized the layout. It quadrupled my revenue.
