    Hi Guys

Just wondering what is the common consensus on Adsense ads, how many boxes to use, where you place them etc. Provide a link lets have a look :)

I am currently struggling weather to keep the colors of Adsense to match my site... or weather to leave them Google colors? Toughie as when there my site colors they look awesome but blend in :(

Take a look an tell me which u think looks best? I think the Google color myself...

With my colour scheme from the site:
    http://www.homeowner-secured-loans.co.uk/reciprocal-link.html

Using Google’s basic colours and a larger ad:
    http://www.homeowner-secured-loans.co.uk/index.html

Thx guys :) if you could drop a link with your site too for me to look at would be cool !

I like the first one best, the one that matches the site.

Hmmm... well I like the one that blends in on the first page, but if you are trying to get people to click out on the Adsense ads, then one that stands out might be better. You could create two different channels based on the color and see which has the better click through rate for you.

Also, on the main page, there is something funky going on with your links in my browser. I use Opera. I have screen shotted it for you and attached it here.

I disagree on the standing out issue. I think people are turned off by ads that stand out. I think that's why adsense is so successful. The ads are able to blend in with the site and can appear to be editorial content. This makes it more believable and I think that's why people will click on them. If they stand out, (it may be an unconscience thing) it's clear that it's an ad and I think people shy away from them.

The best plan is to run each type for a while (at least a week) and compare the results.

Personally, I have experienced the best results from ad colors which match the overall site color scheme.

In many cases, the removal of borders on the AdSense ads helps raise CTR.

Definitely the blending one. When an ad stands out, people are turned off and don't even read it.

And consider removing the borders as well! I have found out that inline boxes work the best!

Borderless ads with same background color as the site seem to work well for us.

We have experimented with 3 ad units (4 ads per unit) per page in our link directory. Example:
    Free Patterns

Ads at the bottom of pages:
    How to make international calls

As well as ads right under first heading:
    10-10 Numbers

We will probably start trying out ad units with fewer ads in the near future to try to better take advantage of the ability to put more than one ad unit per page.

I'm testing out multiple inline boxes on some pages. For example, here. What do you think?

The ads look good, but the site layout and style is great! I really like the clean lines - this is the kind of style (when I describe it to people I call it the "Google" / "Blogger" style - don't ask me why) that I have been thinking about for redoing my site.

    Good job!

Thanks!! This is about the fifth redesign and I'm finally happy with it. Now I can finally work on getting the rest of the pages up. I basically never sleep anymore, trying to create this site on my own.

I like the first one best, the one that matches the site.

Whichever adsense unit integrates best with the sidebar (color matching the background helps tremendously) is what I use.
