I've experienced a sudden drop in earnings on a site of mine, and the only thing I've changed is that I put up an ad block on the "Links" site. I thought if people are going there to look for other places to surf, why not throw in some extra options? Now I'm wondering if that could have been a bad idea - what do you think? Would google be unhappy about ads on links pages? It's not just links, every link is relevant to my site's topic with a short description of the sites they link to. Could this be driving down total earnings or am I just being paranoid here? What else could it be?
If CTR on that page is low and the traffic results in low conversions, your eCPM could drop accordingly. Remove it and see.
I've seen this mentioned before somewhere in this forum. But is there any evidence that lower eCPM causes lower CPC? Let me just see if I got this right: If I have a 100 page website, and most clicks come from 10-20 of those pages (classic 80/20 rule ) would it in fact be better for overall earnings to remove ads on the remaining 80 pages? Would the improved eCPM cause me to get a better CPC, because if not, what would be the point of removing all those ads? Any expert advice on this would be great
