I have a site where we have seem to have CPM ads, as this time of year many companies purchase space through our Adsense account and we do pretty well. It's a content related site, and one of our writers has done a lot of work so I removed my adsense ad and replaced it with his to help him earn revenue. I only run one ad on that page (a 728x90 ad) and I've put his ad in the exact same location as the one from my account. The number of pageviews and average daily number of clicks are the same, but it seems like the CPM amount isn't carrying over. The problem is that the amount of $$ he's receiving is dramatically different from what was there before. I was earning $30-$40 per day from it, while he's getting $5-$8. Has anyone run into an issue before or know why this may be happening? His account is new....but I wouldn't think that it would matter. However if anyone has any insight I'd be appreciative to hear from you. Thanks again, Ian
this is just a guess, so take it as that and nothing more (and everyone feel free to correct me). I know smart pricing effects people negatively, so your account could have been hit by smart pricing in a positive way. If the adwords members hits that come from you and convert vert well, your value could be worth more to them, then other people who advertise with them. Just a thought, like i said, just a guess though
The odd thing is though that the ads are still run on the same page of my site, and the clicks still pay the same, but the CPM value isn't carrying over to the other account. I'm just wondering why if the ads are "site targeted" and paid on a CPM basis why that money isn't carrying over to the other account.
