Adsense newbie need help

I'm in the process of having my first website (one that's decent anyways) created. I'm investing some money into the website to get both the front end and back end done so it's not going to be a hashed together wordpress blog, it's a going to be a legitimate website. I'm having a hard time grasping what my potential to earn from google adsense is because no one is doing what I'm doing (that I've found). What I am building a website specifically tailored to a niche that will provide the community with something that no one else offers. In addition, it will have forums, a way to follow what others in the community are doing, and also a way to potentially meet others in your actual (local) community who share the same interest. The way the website is set up, a user will click through multiple pages, will have plenty of reasons to have return visits, and will also be inclined to share our website with other users. I truly believe it's the next evolution beyond just setting up a forum so that a community can talk.

So now the million dollar question, what is possible with google adsense? I realize that's an impossible question to answer I do, but I'm looking for perspective. This isn't going to be the next google, but will it be something that can put a case of beer in my fridge or pay my rent every month? I've been trying to research "competitors" which are essentially just other forums that are popular in my niche, and I've been using the following website:

It looks at the hits per day and comes up with a potential "advertising revenue" for each website. Looking around, my competitors are earning as little as $2 a day, up to the biggest, best, and most popular website which is making around 10K per month on 100,000 hits per day (at least according to the website above).

So my question is this: 1. Is the website above complete BS 2. If so, is there a better more accurate one 3. Assuming I could hit 10,000 hits per day (10% of the best website) and based on the information I've provided above (we small targeted passionate audience) whats the potential

Research the average cost per click in your niche. If your site isn't niche specific, Google will not be able to target the ads as well. In that case your click through rate will be low. That's why so many people are disappointed with their adsense performance.
I don't think Adsense should be considered a potential money maker for a site that's not designed specifically to serve adsense. It may put beer in your fridge but it probably won't pay your rent.

If your niche has a lot of advertizer competition in adwords (search the adwords keyword tool) then at least you know you can have good CTR and good CPC, so your RPM will be high.
RPM is how much you earn per thousand page impression (with ads of course)

So, to have an idea of how much you can earn, depends on the popularity of your niche, will you be able to get thousand unique visitors everyday?

As a general (very general) rule, for adsense, if your RPM is at least $5, then only a few thousand unique visitors per day (say, 5,000) can get you about and over $2,000 per month.

After of course it depends on other factors, like repeat visitors will decrease your CTR, or the source of traffic, search engine or generally highly targeted traffic will get you better results, etc..

I would advise to not only rely on adsense on your site, you can mix on the same page, in text ads (infolinks, kontera, ..) which doesn't pay much RPM but adds up to adsense and doesn't decrease adsense's ctr significantly I've found. And also research affiliate programs highly related to your niche (clickbank, shareasale, commission junction, amazon, ..) that you can promote on your site (not only displaying the links on your site's navigation, but also make pages about those products)

That way you multiply your income sources in case of some trouble and also to increase the overall RPM you get from your traffic.

    Depends on a few things.

    1) Popularity of niche
    2) Number of advertisers
    3) what advertisers are paying per click in that niche.
    4) how successful you are at SEO.

If you get everything right, a project can easily earn you thousands per month. Otherwise, it's a lot of time spent on content and seo without much reward.

    My Suggestion
    1. Rich Content
    2. Fresh content
    3. Niche content
    4. more content
    5. Blend the ads with the content
