I stick by my original advice early in this thread with one change. If you have ongoing duties to keep the thing going, some additional split of some income would be in order.

Or just have him pay you an hourly fee for your time. If AdSense makes $$ sense on his site, by getting him signed up through your link regardless, you are doing a little win-winning there.

Geez, some of you are acting like he'd be taking advantage of his friend, like it's a site that's going to earn thousands out of the gate.

Yes, first and foremost, tell him don't click the ads.

Next, discuss with him what AdSense is all about. Maybe he doesn't want to piss with it at all; signing up for an account, claiming the income, etc.

If he's already paying for the domain and hosting, then offer him to put the ads up and give him a fair cut. And no, I honestly don't mean 50/50 either, but whatever it is, do it all up front and there's no risk of malcontent feelings down the road.

Maybe you put your AS code up for one full year or up to a certain $ amount so he can say "thanks" for taking the time - the money's not coming out of his pocket and he still gets his site, and then give him the option to get his own account or do a fair split after "x" amount of $$$ or time.

For sure, if you don't put any AS on the site, neither one of you will get paid ;)

    I decided against the ads.

It would have been limited traffic, It's only a small local site nothing special, but with well placed ads (and that type of visitor) i reckon it would be worth 50-100 clicks/month. He advertises quite extensively in the local newspapers and through leaflets and if he now joins a few local forums..... i couldn't help but think of adsense.

I am a lot more honest than that...so i opted for 500 links per page instead !!!!! ROTFLMAO !!!!:D with all the perks of a bit of free promotion chucked in

    washing machine repairs

...anyone else want a site? :p

It was free, I will do some SEO and I have offered to maintain it ...for a small fee ;)

I think you should cut off both his hands and then put the ads up.

First of all he will be busy in the hospital for a while, which gives you plenty of time to earn. Then when he gets back he still probably won't think about clicking on the ads for a while after that. Then when he does you can ask google how a man with no hands was spam clicking your ads.
