Once you setup an Adsense account with Google you can login and get customized ads to display that will match the look and topic of your site. Once you do it a couple of times you'll get the hang of it no doubt, but yeah can be a little tricky at first when you've never done it before.

Get an adsense plugin once you get the code. Some themes are adsense ready and you just paste the code
