I am a newcomer to adsense and i was wondering how i cuztomise my keywords, is it in the meta tags of the page that holds them? How do i get more targeted ads on my page?
And what are some general customizations that everyone should do?

You cannot customize the keywords, but simply put up content and the ads will be related to that content as soon as the spiders crawl your pages.

the time it takes the crawlers to get to your site varies. There are probably hundreds of threads already on this forum to help you optimize your ads and how to get the best performance out of them. Do some reading on some older threads and you will see plenty of things that have already been done to help the performance.

For good linking and spidering create a blog and link your sites to it. Then up date the blog every other day or so.

Not everyone has more than one web site and dumb blogs are not necessary at all when you REALLY know how to get spidered. ;)

Try to repeat same keyword in your blog ..for 3-4 times like

I play decent golf today at St Andrews Golf Links . My golf set is Mizuno MP60 Pro Blade .

u can just put a section code to tell the google adsense to target certain section of your page and ignore those unwanted content.

To answer your question: Google is pretty good AND tweaking keywords on the page in order to get better ads can backfire severely, but yes it does have something to do with keywords in the tags and throughout the page... But please, please don't outsmart yourself here, let google do what google does best.

So just leave it be like they said LOL... It takes a while, sometimes a week or two. If, after some time most of your pages are showing ads but a few are still showing the whatchamacallit temp thingy, you might consider removing the code from said pages... I found there are always a few pages to which the adsense content simply will not stick, for lack of better words.

But give it some time, couple of weeks, maybe a month.
