Ok so I have my website up with adsense and currently it gets around 4k visitors from search engine traffic, however my ctr is terrible at about .15%, I think this is because my pages are basically tutorials and guides so the readers stay to read, do you think that in my situation I should put some CPM ads on? If so which do you recommend thanks!

Maybe it's in your placements :D You should work hard on that factor. Tutorial websites can generate huge amounts of clicks especially in your case w/ good amount of daily visitors.

Check similar established sites using Adsense and replicate their placement strategy.

Websites that are tutorials or guides need to place ads in such a way that when they finish reading a tutorial they should have something interesting with ads, even though this could drive down your cpm as your ads will be at the end of the page, try it, the best option is since you are having decent traffic, play around with channels and placements, you should hit gold at some point of time, dont panic you can make enough but wait for that sweet spot placement:)

Try to play around with ads placement, and decide on which placement gives the best conversion.
