I'm fairly new to being an AdSense publisher and just recently began looking at my AdSense reports in detail. Since starting to create url channels in the past two weeks I've noticed that the income sums for a day seem different on the "channels report" than the "aggregate report". As much as 20% higher on the channels report on average. Of course that figure is more attractive but why is the channels total different than the aggregate total for a given day..? Isn't the aggregate the total of all channel income for that day..? In other words isn't a channel report an itemized listing of income per url that should equal the total stated in the aggregate report..? Any input most appreciated...
This has been addressed here before, but - the URL channels are added up for the total even though they overlap with normal channels. I stopped using them because they screw up the total...unless of course you only read the total for total and not by channel. And unless yous et up a standard channel for each URL, the answer to your last question is no! Unlike say Amazon.com they don't break down by page. That would be great for me but I suspect hard for them (in my case) because I have well over a thousand pages of text - and you can imagine what it would be like if people with forums broke it out!
Let me provide an example Say I have a channel http://www.kbcafe.com and a second channel http://www.kbcafe.com/adwords. Let's assume I get one click on the URL http://www.kbcafe.com/search.aspx for $1 and another click on the URL http://www.kbcafe.com/adwords/. I should report $2 on the http://www.kbcafe.com channel and $1 on the http://www.kbcafe.com/adwords and a sum of $3. But, the aggregate is still $2.
OK... Thanx guys,,, sounds like I should just avoid looking at the channel reports for totaled income info. Should still be good to check revenue for a specific channel thou yes..? Other item of confusion was the channel report indicates the total income for the domain name then it posts a seperate entry on the itemized channel report for the same domain url with a different $$ amount... I guess I'll end of being a bottom line reader for most of these reports now...
