    Hi Guys,

I am almost on verge of starting a new forum. I just had this query, will adsense work in both phBB and VbBullitin easily ?

Are adsense and forums good partners ? :), in terms of success ?

Not really as forum users gets used to ads and hardly clicks. I don't remember if I clicked an ad on DP. In my opinion, it's hard to get clicks on forums but you never know you might get lucky ;) ;)

Yep I thought so, but had this doubt. Google adsense are dynamic in nature, isnt it? Based on keywords. And depending upon keywords, threads the ads should keep on changing or I got it totally wrong ?

It's very hard to get click on forums considering people are busy reading and posting.. A vbulletin is a good script anyway that supports a lot of integrations.

I think adsense should work. Even if I used to the DP forum I sometimes click adsense if the theme ineteresting for me.
So this could work I suppose it's all about the right blending and positioning.
BTW I click usually the right upper ad, I've never clicked links at the bottom here.

I think that if you manage to populate the forum and have a core of loyal users it would be far better to have banner ads displayed rather than adsense. Take a look at webhostingtalk, this forum is the perfect example how you could use such ads to monetize a forum, but like I said, you have to populate the forum with users that will be the vertebra of your community.

Ofcourse, the ads will be different BUT the thing is forum users will hardly ever click unless and untill the ad is of very high interest. They'll probably read, post and logout. Forums have low click-through rates BUT a heavy forum will definitely bring some nice $$$$ though it's kinda hard to get things going @ forums, atleast for me

i will suggest to start with adsense and as the forum grows switch to other options like selling ads privately!!

    dosen't this sound good??

I wouldn't be expecting too earn too much from this particular revenue stream. However as your forum grows then this amount will slowly increase, I'm pretty sure Vbulletin has got easily installable plugins to allow the easy integration of adsense.

Some successful forums earn thousands from AdSense. My new forum earns several hundred. I don't see a problem having AdSense.

    Wrong question.

Thats stuff you really shouldnt worry about if you want to start a "new forum".
I'd rather worry about marketing methods and SEO first.

vBulletin is the way to go.. mainly due to vBSEO.

When your forum is running smoothly: No, Adsense USUALLY is shit on forums (dependant on niche, but its kinda proven that forums generate low CTR). Focus on private banner (related to your niche) and text link ad sales instead.

    My 2 cents.

Well, I have visited this forum where the adsense don't really look like adsense. So I think, they get a lot of clicks.

adsense should work fine on both phpbb aswell as vbulletin or any other forum software.

But the ctr for forums is known to be low.

The vBulletin Software has some fantastic tutorials on placing Adsense in your forums and you can get quite here CTR from them. Blogs and other websites normally do better than forums though anyway. If you follow the vBulletin Adsense tutorials and install some Adsense Modifications, you should make an equal amount of money as any website.

I am not really sure about phpBB though, but vBulletin is more supported :p!
