Is there an alternative to escrow? To my mind a single dollar is as much deserved of protection as $500 but that's my call just as much as yours is yours.

As an experienced fortune-teller :D I predict for BizDir no more than $2.00/month from AS.
I'm sorry if it sounds not so great but it cannot be different.

Best Adsense placement for directory is at the top of search results.
However your pages on searched queries must be well indexed and ranked which is nearly not possible with latest SE changes.

For good AS websites, CTR is about 1-2%. So with traffic 100 uniques (don't think you have more) - this is 1-2 clicks/per day. And because this is directory and visitors do not click ads - you'll be close to NULL.

One more time repeated: need $$ from AS: make other website for that - not a directory. Best for teens, even better for teen-girls

About 80 or so, but it was down to about 40-50 a couple of weeks or so ago, because I have changed my URL structure about 3 times I have been having problems with MSN, a bit of robots.txt activity has started to sort that out though and with Yahoo, it takes time for the detail pages to rank. The traffic is back on the up and up and I have a good feeling about the reinstatement request I just sent to G (I did have a good feeling on #1 and #2 though to be fair).

@ pitbullt - You is a spammin scum.

    80 or 40....

When I had on one of my dirs 1000/1500 uniques per day I didn't have more than $10/month from AS.

But other website, completely different in subject with same traffic was making about $25 per day.

So you see it's really not worth running AS on directory.
That was discussed dozens times here - always same conclusion.
I know only 1 man making not bad money from AS on directory.
But this is also past and was due to national character of the website.

So better save your time and hope for other activities than AS on directory.
Make stupid website with free cliparts, gifs, myspace goodies..., something for trolls, girls or ladies :)
If well ranked you can have really good incomes from AS.

I know a guy who makes over $6000 a month in adsense from his directory - it isn't like ours though. I am getting 80 uniques a day - analytics stats - it was down to 40-50 a few weeks ago.

I think Adsense does well only on niche directories, Adsense ads on General directories are smart priced, so really don't expect more than some cents from the clicks. ;)

There has to be a reason why people make a fortune out of madsense, niche markets being the main one. The problem most of us are so negative about them is a lot of people tend to open general directories which would then offer the same content (or simular) thus reducing the cost effectiveness of each ad. Simply put the money to be made is spread amongs a lot instead of a little which is the case with niche areas.

I would tend to agree with you there w3master, and it puzzles me that making the adsense units to blend seeminglessly into your site design is the recommended method? People already fail to use it so is there any reason why they would when it's made even harder to see I wonder?

One thing that can be said for adsense though, it's not load bearing, it doesn't overly burden your site and there is always that chance of earning at least a few dollars which in my mind is far better than earning none at all.

Even though adsense dosenot works that well on general directories, but still if your ads are optimised and you have a few links of text on your pages, then you can expect to have a few clicks and money!!:)

also, the square ads performs the best, so if you can put the ads in this way, then it will give you an even more better result!
