I am looking to place an adsense banner at the bottom of my directory, have any of you got experience? I want it to tie in with the look and feel. Will pay good cash to any directory owner who I have had dealings with who can help me with this.

Adsense idea is not suitable for web directories IMO. I am using it at my few of web directories and planning to remove them one by one (already removed from few of them).

    DON.

Why is it not a good idea? Did you make anything from it? Submissions are at an all time low 3-5 a week, barely covering the $250 a month I have to pay for advertising, when you put my time into the equation I am running at a serious loss.

If your directory is not making money, I don't see why you shouldn't give it a go.

Not sure what sort of help you need to add it to your directory. Since most directories only have text, I would stick with using text ads. Other than that, you will simply have to test different colors and formats to see how they work within your overall site design.

Is it for biz-dir? Place the adsense code in footer.tpl. I suggest Blue link titles, no border and white background. Perhaps a light grey for the description.

I have tried putting banner code in before and they never show up, I want one like my buddy has: http://www.environmentalgraffiti.com the ads change depending on which page you are on, he doesn't make anything of his like, because all of his traffic is from social media, I think it might work for Biz-Dir though, some of the category and detail pages will produce high paying ads and my visitors are probably looking for something so they will be more likely to click. I need someone who I can trust with my FTP and G login. Will pay good hourly rate about $50.

If your looking for a banner rotator for the script your using there is a mod around for that one although I don't know where. If your happy to pay $50 per hour for installing this feature my advice is to be absolutely certain the coder you hire is from the same country as you because there are a lot of anonymous people here you don't and probably won't ever know from Adam and if worse comes to worse (It probably won't) at least you can take them to your local County Court without much problem. Please also be aware that if you pay via paypal you aren't protected as this type of service isn't covered by them.

    Good luck in your hunt.

Never I have got it working, that has never happened before, the ads are really relevant as well, I don't know how happy Confused.com will be - there is Admiral ads showing up on their detail page  Oh well - A man has to pay his bills somehow. Now I just need to get the ads centred and looking good. I think I will slap a banner at the top of the cats as well.

Dave if theres anything i've learn about Adsense, its to make it blend with the site itself so users dont think an ad block is seperate. The blue border will kill any chance you had of making money. I advise you to remove it. I even advised against it in the earlier post i made. Best of luck! :)

    Is that better Mikey?

Is there anywhere where I can find all of the codes for the different adsense colours?

This scraper site seems to really pull it off: hotfroguk.co.uk they don't have to show ads by Google either, I think it's because they are a large publisher.

They have come up with a way to automatically scrape content, generate pages and tag them. Cross linked it with a giant network of directories and they are pulling in loads of traffic. I have a feeling they may even be using Biz-Dir to find new pages to scrape. I set up a page for this business that was not mentioned anywhere on the web and a few days later hotfrog were ranking at the top of Google for the business name with some scraped content.

I bet that giant scraper is making a killing.

You'd be surprised pipes, ever wondered why they call them small claims Courts? Escrow is a great way of protecting your interests. Sorry I can't give a link yet but a quick search will find their services.

    Hello...

If i can make a suggestion that you not add it on front page and only
add it to inner pages so as not to take away from your directory...

    just my 2 cents

If i was spending over $500 then i would use an escrow service but below that id most likely use an alternative.
