Correct, this is not a Google (AdSense) product. Both Kontera Technologies (AdLinks) and Vibrant Media (IntelliTXT) offer this type of ad unit. Which, essentially, is a text ad built into a mouseover layer.

Many AdSense publishers utilize both types of ads on their pages to boost their effective page CPMs.

Really? That must be against the TOS if I remember right.

If you are referring to the mimicking of AdSense ads, mouseovers would not apply. That would refer to ads like Clicksor or YPN! If you are referring to not having other contextual products on the same page as AdSense, then yes, it would apply for both Vibrant Media's IntelliTXT and Kontera's DynamiContext AdLinks.

However, Kontera also has a Broadmatch AdLinks product that is not based off of analyzing the content of a page (contextualization). This falls outside of the scope of Google AdSense's TOS.

Actually I saw an article at Jensense about Google betatesting richmedia advertising.

I can't add the link here, because "Live links and signatures are not available until you have 10 total posts". Someone doesn't know how to count.

it takes awhile before you are able to post live links. when i reached 10 (and continued posting) i had to wait for a day before my links became live.

i haven't tried yet,i feel they definitely have much more CTR than adsense because they mix up with content very well .but to join intelli your site needs 5,00,000 + views per month.

I would recommend that you sign up for both IntelliTXT and for Kontera's AdLinks. Then you can run for one month with one company and compare to the next month with the other.

Kontera also asks that you do a minimum of 1,500,000 page views before signing up. However, if your site is doing less than that, I'd still be happy to set you up with an account to test functionality, performance (CTR, CPC, CPM).

We're banking on quality sites that will grow in traffic, so the fact that you aren't doing 5 million pv this month doesn't worry me.

Feel free to PM me, or use the link in my signature (leave a comment "DP ref").
