    Just got accepted into adsense.

I have several websites, is there a way to seperate them?
What are the channels for specifically? I read the FAQ and still don't really understand.

What is this talk about a code that they're supposed to send you?

Thanks if anyone can help with these questions.

You can use channels to track stats for each individual ad, page, or site. I just seperate mine by site. To seperate them by site, go to advanced reports, then create / manage channels and enter a url. Not sure what you mean about the code thing.

By code do you mean the actual adsense code that you need to put on your pages to display ads?

i think he means the PIN. as far as i know, you'll get it by mail and won't get paid by AdSense unless you verify your acct with that PIN

also, i'd strongly encourage using channels for specific high traffic pages. moreover, if you have several ad units/links per page, track them in separate channels for high traffic pages. this way you'll know what ad placement/format works and what does not for pages with most traffic (ie should pay)

Ahh you're probably right. I signed up before they started using PINs so I didn't think of that :(

You can have individual channels for specific high traffic pages as Devbistro says which help you check performance after tweaking or best paying categories or whatever but you can also have domain channels which is handy if you want to quickly check performance by website.

In the control panel, you´ll see Active URL Channels and Active Custom Channels. Just be sure not to have both checked at the same time or it will look like you are getting more money than you actually are as each click will be counted twice.

    Thanks for all the comments!

    Some more questions.
Is there a way I can see how my page will look with the ads before the ads go live?
How do I know if I am getting the most out of the ads?
What CTR is considered high, average, low?

add ads to the pages you are testing and remove your acct id (client id) from the ad sense code. still don't click on the ads

i would not concentrate on that this early in the game. if you find that your ctr is below 1 there is a good chance you are doing something wrong.

also, study and follow the heatmap when deciding where to place ads: https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/static.py?page=tips.html&gsessionid=iryL2exgs28

Yeah.. there is no standard CTR, it depends on your traffic, your site, and how well google matched it to your content.

A high CTR would be 10/15%.. its not a realistic goal to aim it for most sites though.

Since they just approved me today, do I have to put the google ads up today already? Do they limit me like I must put the google ads on my website within 24 hours, etc.?

No but there is the new clause in the TOS that says you have to basically "be productive" or they can close the account. :)

Yeah, I think I read about the new TOS change. So they send no warning emails first to bring the production up and just cancel your account?

They just updated the TOS with that a couple of days ago, so I don't know if anyone's account has been closed yet, but I'd imagine that they would send a warning first.
