So I restarted using my Adsense account and my all time page impressions is 1,850 with 4 clicks and I've earned $2.05, that's right $2.05! What do you guys average for say 1,000 to 1,500 page impressions? I don't understand why people don't click on the ads!! It's a picture-celeb blog, and I know that's a lame niche industry, but this is what I decided to do as my market experiment. I would like to increase my PR Rank which is currently 0, I post everyday and I keep everything up-to-date with new pics daily. What advice would you give me to make it better and earn my goal of $100 dollars in a year. What makes people click on the ads, and how do I increase my PageRank. I've read a lot of theories etc, and I still fail... I guess I'm impatient and I want to earn $8-10 dollars a month. Anyway any advice would be helpful. I'm only using adsense on this blog. I'm developing another site with a group of friends and I want to know that it will be able to survive and make a profit or at least even out hosting and domain costs. Once again thanks for reading my post and excuse the rant. I'm just mad at failing. P.S. I added the PR thing because I wonder if PR affects adsense pay... for example does a higher PR equal a better Page eCPM?
I think you should be aiming for $100 per month with that amount of traffic. I Earn $120 per month from that amount of traffic and my niche is really poor. Try using link units and not link boxes because they work better for image sites! If you can get your CTR to around 2% you will be making loads!
Hey Hydro, Thanks for the tips. I have no idea what a link unit is or a box unit, but I'll log once more into adsense and see what they offer. Since this is a first year I just want to cover hosting and domain name cost. Don't want to get too greedy, this site is not really for making money but learning. I've been developing another site I want to launch, but I need "major" money for that since I want to hire writers, etc. I get about 1,000 Unique visitors a month and some people view 3 or 4 pages per visitor. I added adsense very late since I made sure to read the google agreement and copyright laws. Once again thanks.
4 clicks for $2 is good for an entertainment site. 4 clicks for 1000 impressions is low. You should read up on some articles about getting higher click rate. Its an interesting point about PR affecting pay, perhaps google has a system that better placed ads are only placed with webpages of a certain PR ranking. But im not sure on this.
I average about 70.00 for 1000 hits with a CTR of around 8%. You must have a poor selection of traffic coming through your site.
Get your ads above the fold with the picture low enough they have to scroll a little bit to see the whole picture. The ads will load before the pictures and peoples eyes will go to them.
I think that with the correct ad placement you would be able to increase your CTR and improve your earnings. Send me your website address and let me take a look at it. Sometimes many people do not click on ads because they see them exactly as that advertisements. Also the traffic that is coming to your webpage may only be browsers and are not really looking for anything in particular. There are many ways to get good targeted traffic.
Thanks for the insights. So what articles should I read to help better my traffic. The forum is huge and I don't really know where to start out. I recently went over to Amazon and decided to make a book list, so this weekend I'm going to the library and picking some of them up. I hate failing at anything in life and I have to make a winning site. The money is only half the battle, my year goals are: 1,000,000 page views, a minimum of 300,000 unique hits, and a high PR. I already read about PR and the links thing, but if anyone has more insights on Adsense or must read articles, please help me out.
Yeah, change the location and color, format of your ads. Play around with them for a bit to see what works best for you.
Try to change up ads statregy by changing format of ads; use large rectangles and sky scrappers with effective color blending! i think it will definately make any prominent change
And also see that your site is showing relevant adsense Ads as it sometimes happens that the Ads do not match the theme of the site and so it gets low CTR. This problem can be solved by adding good targeted content and by page optimization.
Do try to include some text while you are posting the images. For example, if you are going to post about any actress, mention her recent movie and her role in it and how beautiful she is and how she sizzles in the collection of images that you have. That gives Google Adsense bot to read thru the text and provide some relevant ads(at least) to other sites and would make the viewer click on the ad. And as some one above suggested, ad placement and ad colors do make an impact on the number of clicks. Maintain 3 variations of google ads on the site and keep changing the positions for every 10-15 days and study the variations in the clicks by keeping a notes on these.
