I've seen several sites do this already with the google adsense search bar on their site. Does anyone know if this is a violation of google TOS?

I think there is no problem with that and you are not violating google TOS

Looks to me like they've modified the heck out of the search code which could cause problems TOS-wise.

I didn't modified the search code, I just changed the HTML layout a bit in order for it to fit in my sidebar. Everything else "internally" is still intacked. I'm just not sure how sensitive google is with doing stuff like that.

Then where did the Google logo go? Edited: Nevermind :) I see you have Google Search on the button instead.

Thanks for looking into it everyone. So is it confirmed that I'm not violating any google TOS with that setup?

The code still looks modified with those different table rows etc for moving the button down.

If you've modified any of the code that Google generated for you, you run a serious risk of trouble. Removing it is definitely safer. It may never become an issue, but that's a chance you have to be willing to take and accept the consequences IF it becomes an issue.
