Adsense for Search Click thru Rates / Impressions

I have been getting relatively low (under 20) impressions on my Adsense for Search page, with a seemingly normal CTR. The other day, there was no real jump in impressions, but the CTR went up geometrically. I reported it to Google just to be safe, but they seemed to think it was normal. Anyone else experience wildly unpredictable Adsense for Search activity? It seems like it can sleep for awhile, then take off (a day at a time). At least that's what happened to me.

its pretty common. I see around 500-1000 searches most days w/ an expected CTR, and all of the sudden a day w/ 2500 searches and phenomonal CTR will get thrown in there.

Man. Even the "spike" that I saw in views was still under 20. Is it strange that on those days the clicks was 3 to 4 times the views? I love that on this forum, even the "little guys" get a voice :)

Since I used adsense for search my CTR for it is always high. I think it is relative on on it is presented. Unlike adsense for content your visitors came for your content so there are small chance that they will click your ads. Unlike in search the used it to search for specific keyword so the may consider the ads displayeds as part of search result.

My adsense search CTR has always been high as well, but it fluctuates greatly from day to day. I would agree with some of the above postings that it really depends on who is visiting your site that day, and what they are searching for using your google search box. One day you may have a bunch of users coincidentally searching for high-paying keywords, other days not. Since it is not based on your content (if they are using web search), it becomes nearly random.

I just wish the integration abilities were better with the search box.

My adsense ctr has always been zero or close to it. I am not really working on the Adsense for search thing though. :)

Nothing to worry about..as your number of impressions is very low, the result could easily be distorted by 1 or 2 users who are trigger (click) happy..

I received an email back from G basically stating that they are confident that their filterw would have caught those clicks if they were fraudulent, so they are going to pay me for them! W00t. It's actually the most I've ever made in a day so far.

very nice indeed - got to love those unexpected days when it all comes together. If only we could bottle it and make it happen a bit more regularly!

Is it recommended to make a search page? Do people actually click the sponsered results?

It does help to provide search functionality at your site. After all, the tool is free and doesn't takes up much space.

I'm new to these forums, and pretty new to google adsense as well. I really have no idea how google really works, but how could it possibly know if a search click was fraudulent or not? Would it be because the person clicked the same ad repeatedly or something? Or does google have some algorithm it uses?

Google was pretty firm in saying that they won't divulge any information on how they know a click is fraudulent, but the person (I think) who emailed me seemed pretty confident that they would know.

Here's pretty much all they wrote:

How does Search Box CTRs compare with normal Google page Adsense?
Is the value higher than your pages? Obviously it depends on the site but are users searching for site specific items or general?

Compared to the CPC from my regular adsense ads, I have a feeling that they are clicking or searching for non-site-specific searches.

The CTR is much higher in my case, because the number of page impressions is miniscule so just a few clicks make a huge difference.

I hate programs like this you spend tons on advertising and hardly get anything out of it. And do not use clicksor.com Biggest Scam

I'm pretty new to adsense I just wanted to know how does adsense for search ctr is calculated ? Does it depend on the no of impressions or the no of queries ?
