Adsense For Idiots

Don't get your panties ruffled by the title. It just makes me laugh. :p

I wrote a little article/ whatever about adsense that a few of you may enjoy. It may help someone, or at least start a good conversation. If you want to read the whole thing (yep, it is long), check out the second link in my signature.

So this doesn't come across as pure spam (a little spam is ok, right? :p), here is a little excerpt from it:

Q: Can I place images by my ads?
A: Yes. There is a lot of confusion on this as Adsense has recently addressed the issue of using images to mislead visitors into thinking that the ads are related to the pictures. A classical example was a site I saw with a horizontal ad unit. The site was about pigs. The horizontal ad unit had 4 text ads, and above each one there was a little pic of a tiny pig perfectly aligned with each ad. To many visitors, they thought that you had to click on an ad to find out what the little pig picture was about. This is exactly what Google is trying to stop. You can have images completely surrounding an ad, but just make sure that they don't mislead the visitor. Some webmasters accomplish this by creating a line as a barrier between the image and the ads, but this isn't necessary. Just make sure that you don't have images that trick the user into clicking on ads. Other examples of this includes arrows that point to the ads, placing the ads on top of images so that the ads look like part of the image, etc.

The article just goes over the most common adsense questions that I have read all over the net, along with my answers. I covered placement, tos, and a few miscellaneous questions such as "What is a good ctr?"

Have fun guys and feel free to tell me I'm wrong, or even thank me for always being right. :p

Good article, the only problem is people will ask the same questions tomorrow that it answers perfectly.

Thank you sweetfunny (your name makes me smile :p). Glad you enjoyed the read.

Yeah, I guess everyone had the same questions when they started out in adsense. And since every forum gets new webmasters every day, the same questions will come back up every day. Whew, now I'm confused! :D
