I've been playing around with AdSense for Domains over the past month, trying to figure out how to maximize earnings, and I seem to have figured it out. If you're not already familiar with AFD, you'll probably be lost in reading this. But basically, all the money is earned with brand names. You can either associate brand names as keywords, or you have a brand name in the domain name itself. This seems to cause AFD to display CPM-based ads. And you'll probably already know that CPM revenue is pretty much 100% of revenue you earn on AFD. Years ago I had a website where I published news about dogs. It managed to attract a lot of inbound links. And today, there's still about 500 referrals a day coming from those inbound links. So recently, I parked the domain on AFD. Initially, it didn't earn any money. I tried changing the keywords several times, and it never earned anything. But finally I changed the keywords to brand names like "Petco", "PetSmart" and "PetLand", which are the biggest pet supply stores in the USA. And now I'm earning some decent money. Brand names always seem to be associated with branding-style ads, which are of course, CPM-based. So the trick is to get AFD to display lots of CPM ads. To do that, you can either associate brand names as the keywords, OR, you already have the brand name in the domain name itself. I just wrote an article about this on my AdSense blog... http://www.moneywithadsense.com/2010/10/adsense-for-domains-loves-brands.html Anyone else have experience to share regarding AFD?
Wouldn't it be against the 'rules' if you have a domain with a registered and very well known pet shop? I mean being sued and that stuff.. But yes, a great tip, I have a friend who earns 200$+ with a few months old adsense only site and has a name related to important news etc. It makes people think that it's actually big and a huge site.
I have tried AdSense for Domains and unfortunately the results were pretty bad - 525 impressions and I earned $0.02, now I didn't try using or targeting brands which I think is a good idea but I don't know about having the brand name in my domain it seems that could get the company mad but maybe someone else has a better idea...
I also had used Adsense for domains! but it only works when you have sufficient amount of traffic for the domain... if you have old domain name then you can easily make good money
i tried adsense for domain last week, i added one of my domain which registered on January 2010 and used a facebook like script in it [but it wasnt a success, i didnt get any earnings from that], So i didnt look after the domain for a long time, 3 days back i decided to add that in to adsense for domains. But after adding the domain i received much higher earning ,ie, 25$ 1st day itself and 20$ next day,I didnt used to drive any traffic to that domain. when i searched in google, i found around, 1400 links to the site. Is that illegal Now I removed the Domain from Adsense for Domains. please advice Thanks Rakesh
Rakesh, it's not against AdSense's policies to have inbound links to your parked domains, as long as those inbound links are from other people's websites. You just can't create links from your own websites.
You can get backlinks from submitting to directories, submitting articles to ezine or prlog and in your forum signature with a link back to your domain.
